North Carolina recently legalized sports’ betting in the state and ahead of the upcoming NASCAR race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, ex-NFL Tight End of the Carolina Panthers, Greg Olsen, has revealed the first bet he has made. He has put the money on Bubba Wallace to win the 2024 Cup title with Toyota team 23XI Racing.

The revelation was made during a special event that was held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The Athletics’ Jordan Bianchi shared a video via X, where Greg Olsen showed his phone to the fans and revealed that he has placed a $4100 bet with No:23 Toyota Camry driver Bubba Wallace as his first pick to win the 2024 Championship over a stacked field. He believes this a good bet for him.

I'm putting $4100. [It's] a really good bet and just so you know I'm not lying to you, here it is- Bubba Wallace is [the] first pick to win the Cup Series championship.
Olsen said.

The words from ex-footballer was received with applauds from the fans in attendance. But in social media it wasn’t the same, with many in agreement that despite being a top talent, Wallace and co are not yet ready to win a championship.

What is the chance of Bubba Wallace winning the championship in 2024?

Bubba Wallace had a strong start to the 2024 season that saw him secure top-5s in the first two races of the season, Daytona and Atlanta. But the last two races, Las Vegas and Phoenix were tough for him as bad luck cost him good finishes in a solid 23XI machinery.

He is now P14 in the championship standings and has over 97 points. His teammate Tyler Reddick with his impressive performance has proved that they have a car capable of winning races and if they clean up pit-stops victory and playoffs are feasible.

But the one thing that will hinder Wallace in his pursuit is the fact that 23XI is a young team and doesn’t have cars that are consistently reliable. They would have to wait couple more years to be at the level of the HMS-JGR and Penske group and consistently fight for titles. But it is not impossible as the one thing NASCAR playoff sytem has taught fans is to epxect an underdog story all the time.
