NASCAR will hit the 1.99 miles Sonoma Road Course, the second of the season after COTA, this weekend for the annual Toyota / Save Mart 350. The 219 Mile race will see the best drivers in NASCAR going all out to prove they are more than capable of making it on the road tracks as well as in the ovals. The Next-Gen car track debut will also see drivers stepping on the gas with more confidence as they have some important prior knowledge and data from the last cup race at COTA.
Going into COTA the “Cuban Missile” the No:10 Stewart Hass Racing Ford Mustang driver Aric Almirola will be someone to watch out for as the veteran who might be running his final Sonoma Cup race will be riding on the momentum from his consistent run through the season and the P5 finish last weekend which is his best so far this season.
Almirola so far has only finished outside the top 20 four times this season and has secured five top 10 finishes which also includes a couple of top 5 finishes the first one coming in the season opener at Daytona. Find out what Aric Almirola had to say about the Upcoming Sonoma Cup Race

Aric Almirola has pointed out that though he wasn’t able to convert their top 10 finishes to top 5 as they couldn’t catch a break from cut tires untimely cautions came in ahead of him in their advance. He went on to say that he was never put in the best position to finish where they ran and the perfect week they had last time helped them to get to the top 5 in Gateway and shred his hopes to continue that in coming races.
“We have had top-10 cars for the last handful of races but just couldn’t catch a break. From a cut tire to an untimely caution, we just haven’t been put in the best positions to finish where we run. To have put a full weekend together with no mistakes led us to a top-five and a good bit of stage points. It’s nice to head to a road course after this because we didn’t put ourselves in a hole,” Aric Almirola said.
Aric Almirola went on to say that the SHR’s road course programs have steadily improved over time and heading into Sonoma they will try to have another mistake-free day and see where that lands them. He went on t add that they know what they are capable of they just have to go on and do it, staying out of trouble.
“Our road-course program has steadily improved over time so, heading to Sonoma, we’ll try to have another mistake-free day and see where that lands us. We know what we’re capable of and we have to just put it all together and stay out of trouble,” Aric Almirola added.
Aric Almirola acknowledged that having a lot of patience, grip, and hitting the marks will be key at Sonoma “A lot of patience, and grip. It’s such a technical and slow track compared to Watkins Glen. You really have to hit your marks,”.
