Dale Earnhardt Jr., son of one of the all-time greats in the premier stock car racing series has ever witnessed Dale Earnhardt, made a name for himself in the sport, whom has already crossed the realm of being respected just because his sir-name. The 15-time most popular driver on the grid has won 26 cup races and two Xfinity championships on his way to entering the NASCAR Hall of Fame just like his father.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. following his retirement from full-time racing has been doing a lot more for the NASCAR community with his Podcasts, sports analyst gig with NBC, and the team ownership of JR Motorsports. He is among one of the most respected ex-drivers who always provides big traction to his words whether that’s a positive or negative statement on the drivers. He now leads the NBC  coverage of NASCAR after it was transferred to them from Fox, after their early season coverage.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was one of the major voices in support of North Wilkesboro Speedway, which last hosted a Cup race in 1996, returning to the NASCAR schedule after it was abandoned. With the North Carolina legislature providing budgetary allocation to the track’s renovation, the Speedway Motorsports which owns the track announced that it will run races in August and October in multiple type of tracks.  Now Dale Jr, who earlier ran a test run there has announced in live Dale Jr. Download show that he will be running in those races at the track.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. acknowledged that it was a lot of fun to race in the track, which he last hit it on 1995.And went on to suggest that he is able to extract that same utility during his test run last week. He went onto point out that there are a lot individuals at the track who working around the clock to get it ready, whom deserves appreciation.

“It was a lot of fun to go around the race track again. It’s been since 1995 since I’ve run any laps here. I was really surprised at how great the track condition is. The surface of the race track is ready to rock, and they’ve been doing a lot of work here over the past several months and there’s a lot more work to do. There are people here today working around this race track trying to get it ready for racing here,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on to say that the track has been sitting the way it is since 1996 and acknowledged that it was the last speedway, he and Mathew Dilner were planning to shoot their TV show. He added that with a lot of effort and interest they were able to bring the track back and pointed out that there will be races conducted every single week at the track from August.

It’s been sitting there since 1996 abandoned, whatever you want to call it. It was a lost speedway. Me and Matthew (Dilner) actually talked about doing an episode on our TV show. Through a lot of effort and a lot of interest, we’ve been able to bring this race track back to life and there is racing scheduled at North Wilkesboro Speedway in August. There will be races happening every single week,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on to say that in October the Asphalt of the track will be removed turning it into a dirt track to host dirt races in the month, before eventually repaving it next year. He added that’s the track has been undergoing a lot of refurbishing as its getting ready to host race in August. Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed he will line up two late model cars he owns, on August 31 to race, of which one will be driven by him.

Also, in October they’re going to dig the asphalt up and turn it into a dirt track. There will be races in October every week at North Wilkesboro Speedway as well. And then they’ll repave it next year. This race track is getting a lot of refurbishing done to it. They’re working on it every single day trying to get it ready for the races in August. I own late-model stock cars. We’re going to enter two cars on the 31st of August there’s a race. We’re going to enter two cars and I’m going to be driving one of them,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained.
