The 23X1 Racing had a disappointing end to their regular season campaign though they had their best cup campaign in two years. While Bubba Wallace failed to secure the playoff spot as he went winless while veteran driver Kurt Busch was ruled out of the race as he failed to recover from the concussion he suffered following the Pocono crash.

Though Wallace had a late resurgence as he scored some impressive top 5 runs, he wasn’t able to convert that to an all-important win. But that did create up an opening for the Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin-owned team to compete for the construction championship and place themselves in a good position at the end of the season.

Now in order to maximize the time of their constructor’s championship campaign in the 2022 season, the 23X1 Racing team has decided to switch numbers between Bubba Wallace and ty Gibbs, which will see the former driving the car marked Nio:45 while later will drive the No:23 car. The switch is limited to the numbers as there won’t be any crew or personal switches associated with it.
