‘X-Men’ Star Michael Fassbender places racing ahead of showbiz, claims he would rather win the Le Mans over an Oscar
Hollywood star Michael Fassbender is competing in the legendary 24 Hour of Le Mans for the second time.

Micheal Fassbender is an Irish actor who is well-known for his role as a supervillain named Magneto in the X-Men series. He gained massive success and fame for his role in the X-Men: First Class, Days of Future Past, and Apocalypse. Fassbender was also nominated twice for the Academy Awards, four times for the BAFTA Awards, and thrice for the Golden Globe Awards.
Apart from his success in Hollywood, Micheal Fassbender wants to make his mark in racing. Last year, the X-Men superstar made his debut at the iconic Le Mans 24-Hour race. The 46-year-old drove the Porsche 911 RSR-19 for the German team Proton Competition. Despite crashing thrice and finishing 51st out of 62, Fassbender will return to Le Mans for a second attempt this season.
The European Le Mans Series announced in February that Micheal Fassbender would return to ELMS. It will be his fourth season with Proton Racing. Despite his fame in Hollywood, Fassbender wants to reach heights in racing. Motorsport reported Micheal Fassbender’s statement, “A victory in Le Mans I would take over an Oscar.” This proves his love and passion for racing.

Racing History of Hollywood A-lister Micheal Fassbender

Micheal Fassbender’s dream was to become a race car driver, and he fulfilled it. Previously, he stated that he felt an affinity with cars and a connection with driving and speed. Though it was clear to him at a very young age, his racing journey began only in 2017. He stepped into the racing world by competing in the Scuderia Ferrari Challenge’s Coppa Shell class in 2017.
Micheal Fassbender began to work with Porsche in 2019 and documented his experience in the YouTube series called Road to Le Mans. In 2020, he joined Proton Competition driving the Porsche 911 RSR for the European Le Mans Series. He stayed with the team in 2021 and got his best finish and first podium at the last race in Portimao.
Last season at the world-famous endurance event, Micheal Fassbender did not get his fairytale ending. He crashed into the barriers and was forced into the pits during the qualifying. On race day, the X-Men star went into the gravel twice. However, Fassbender hopes to turn things around and make a comeback this weekend at the 24 Hours of Le Mans which will be held at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France.
