Apart from the United States, NASCAR also has a presence worldwide, as it has four sister series running in different parts of the world. The Whelen Euro Series is one of them, the only series out of the four to run in Europe. Recently, part-time Xfinity and Truck Series driver Ryan Vargas announced that he will debut in the Europe-based competition on 23-24 September.
The race is set to take place in Oschersleben, Germany. Vargas will be racing for the Germany-based racing team 3F Racing, driving the No:30 Chevrolet Camaro. While he is already running in Xfinity and Truck Series, Vargas is also the Head of Team and Driver Development in 3F Racing and has been working extensively in bringing the team to the U.S.
“I am incredibly humbled to make the trip to Germany to run in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Race with my friends at 3F Racing. It’s always been a dream of mine to race overseas… the idea of taking on a new challenge in a whole different car and track is an exciting one,” said Vargas, as per euronascar.com.
While Vargas is new to the championship, he will not be at a great disadvantage to his opponents as the track has only been introduced this season. Vargas is currently in the 102nd position in the Xfinity Series and 33rd in the Truck series.

Problems faced by 3F Racing to join the NASCAR Cup Series
3F Racing have been vying for a long time to become the first German team to race in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team announced their plans of joining the Cup Series by 2023 in July 2022. However, things still seem to be going slow as the team has not yet made an appearance in any Cup race so far.
The biggest hurdle in their way was the issuing of visas for their team. After a long delay, they finally had their visas issued in June this year. Even still, the team has a long way to go as they agree on sponsorship deals and partnerships with various other teams. 3F co-owner Dennis Hirtz laid out the team’s plans as they plan to make their entry into the series as soon as possible.
“The first goal is really getting out our car, scoring some solid results with our partners and then we want to take it step by step,” said Hirtz.
