The 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season can be defined by the chaotic championship battle between Ty Gibbs and Noah Gragson. They had multiple run-ins between them and the war of the words was fun to watch for many in the NASCAR fan community. At the end Jos Gibbs’ grandson came out victorious with impressive consistency.

Noah Gragson and Ty Gibbs moved to the Cup series the very next-season, with the former signing with Legacy Motor Club and the latter with Joe Gibbs Racing. They have had two massively different careers since. While Gibbs consistently improved, Gragson lost his seat with LMC and in 2024 had a redemption arc with SHR.

Now having a lot of time to reflect on his former self, Gragson kind of regret his aggressive beef with Gibbs who was once his good friend. He pointed out that they have moved on from all the drama and has become buddies yet again. The No:10 Ford driver really respects and appreciate Gibbs as a driver an as a person nowadays.

Do I wish I could go back and not say some of the things I said, absolutely. But at the same time I have a ton of respect for Ty, he’s a great race car driver, he’s a champion, he’s one hell of a competitor and we’re buddies now. I consider him a friend, I appreciate Ty. He’s a good driver, too and he’s a good guy.

Noah Gragson won’t care about friendship on the track

While further talking about the same, Gragson pointed out that though he is good friends with Gibbs, when it comes to racing, he will not care about friends and will see everyone as rivals. But once he is out of the race suit, everyone in the grid are his friends.

That being said, no matter who you’re competing against when I get on the race track or we’re competing for a championship, I don’t care who it is. But once we take off the race suits, I consider everybody in the garage my friend.

Going into the 2025 season Gragson doesn’t have a seat secured yet and fans are looking forward to see what will happen to him. It would be interesting to see a Gragson-Gibbs battle for the biggest prize in NASCAR in the future.
