NASCAR president gives his verdict on “champion and fan-favorite” Martin Truex Jr.’s retirement
NASCAR is ready to give Martin Truex Jr. a great farewell.

2017 Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. has been teasing retirement from full-time racing from the start of 2022 season. He has finally made the decision to hang the boots as he confirmed the reports and rumors that has been on the air from the start of this week, at Iowa that he will retire at the end of 2024.
NASCAR president Steve Phelps while talking about the announcement made by Martin Truex Jr. at Iowa highlighted how the champion driver has been a constant winner and fan favorite in the sport. He pointed out that the Joe Gibbs Racing driver performer with tenacity and immense success over the years.

Martin Truex Jr. has been a consistent figure over the last two-plus decades in NASCAR – a consistent winner, champion and fan-favorite. Phelps went on to share the appreciation the France family, who owns NASCAR, has for the driver. He congratulated Truex Jr. on the behalf of them and wished him best of lack for the reminder of the 2024 season.

NASCAR responds to controversy over Iowa repave
The Vice President of NASCAR Elton sawyer addressed the media about the controversies around the decision to partially repave the track. He pointed out that repaving was never the objective for the sport while announcing the race, but had no option but to do it later because of many factors.

It took a toll on the surface. Our goal all along, as we announced this race back in October of last year, was to not repave. But as we started scheduling events, whether it be a tire test and looking at the facility, once we got into the early part of the calendar this year, it was apparent there were some areas we were going to have to take a look at and do some repaving.Elton Sawyer said.
With the speed difference in the new and old grooves set-to dictate the race result on Sunday, Martin Truex Jr. would be hoping that he would come out victorious in the race. It would interesting see how they would playout at Iowa.
