The championship finale venue has long been one of the biggest point of debates over the last few seasons. The Phoenix raceway has been the championship race track for the last few seasons, and though it has hosted some good races, no event has been worthy of finale. Many in the racing community has been asking NASCAR to make tweaks to fix the situation.
One prominent suggestion that has come from drivers and industry insiders, was the rotation of the finale venues. Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin and Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been prominent advocates of it. Now it seems NASCAR has listened to the fans and have decided to make a significant change.
Adam Stern of SBJ has reported that NASCAR is looking into rotating finale between Phoenix and former championship racetrack Homestead Miami. He recently also interviewed NASCAR COO Steve O’Donnell, who revealed that the sports are interested in having more finale venues than just Miami, with the main objective of growing the sport.
NASCAR is set to introduce new marketing program for 2025
In the same interview O’Donnell also revealed that NASCAR is setting up a new marketing program for the 2025 season. The driver concentrated program is focused on rewarding the racers financially for involvement in the marketing campaign.
The new program seems to be something that will greatly benefit the teams and drivers. It will be interesting to see how much of the $10-20 million budget for the program will be awarded to the teams and how it is going to change the racers life.
