RFK racing set to file an appeal against the Level 2 penalty to Brad Keselowski and his car

NASCAR on Friday announced a severe penalty to Cup Series Outfit Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing alongside penalties for its co-owner and No:6 car driver Brad Keselowski for unauthorized modification of single vendor-supplied parts in last week’s cup series race in Atlanta.
The team incurred a Level-2 penalty which will put them in trouble throughout the season and so it is of no doubt that the team will be opting to appeal the decision and they did exactly that. The team announced through their Twitter handle that they have already filed the appeal and are looking forward to working with NASCAR to find a suitable resolution.
“In connection to the penalties announced yesterday by NASCAR, we have filed a notice of appeal and look forward to the opportunity to work through the process,” read RFK racing statement on Twitter.
It is highly unlikely that the team will be able to get away with such an action considering the fact that none of the other teams who have been penalized in this season has seen the discussion against them overturned and RFK racing will be bracing themselves for the worst.
Why was RFK racing penalized and what are the penalties?
NASCAR penalized the team and the driver under Sections 14.1 and 14.5 in the NASCAR Rule Book which is for the modification of a single source supplied part and the fact that RFK decided to do it this season where the organization has introduced strict rules and more single-source supplied part’s to make racing more competitive put more shade on them.
An L2-level penalty to the No. 6 Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing team on Thursday morning, penalizing the team 100 driver points, which saw Brad Keselowski dropping to 35th in the championship table, and 100 owner points deduction.
Other than the points penalties, RFK crew chief Matt McCall was fined $100,000 and suspended from the next four NASCAR Cup Series points races. There is also a Playoff point deduction coming in the way of Brad Keselowski if he gets there this year as he will see 10 NASCAR Playoff points deduction.
