Since entering the Next-Gen era, and signing a deal with 2012 Cup champion Brad Keselowski, RFK Racing has been one of the rise, with the goals of returning to the glory days. They recently announced the expansion of the team to a three-car operation, singing ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver Ryan Preece.

The signing of Ryan Preece was primarily due to two factors. The first one was the potential he had, despite struggles in the past and the second was the massive Kroger sponsorship he brough into the team. The brand would be part of all three RFK cars. Unfortunately, this move came at a cost as latest reports suggest that Brad Keselowski’s sponsor is set to exit team because of this.

Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal reported that King’s Hawaiian, which produces sweet and sour dinner rolls, will move out of the sport because of conflict with Kroger. They have been part of the team for the last three years and has given some of the best paint schemes the No:6 ford had in the current era. They are tracking with new teams to continue remain in NASCAR.

King’s Hawaiian is expected to leave RFK Racing after this year and is talking with other teams in NASCAR about a switch for 2025, per sources, stemming in part from a brand conflict with one of RFK’s new sponsors.

Brad Keselowski explains why he signed Ryan Preece

During the announcement of Preece signing, Keselowski explained why the team overlooked the racers SHR struggles. He believes the new RFK driver is someone with incredible work ethic that just needs the right resources and team around him to succeed. Keselowski believes a team can be built around him and lead them to success.

I see Ryan, I see someone who has talent. He has work ethic and probably hasn’t been in the opportunities he needs to be in to be successful. So my commitment is to taking someone like Ryan and putting him in that spot where he can win and with the right resources, with the right team around him and the right support structure and that’s what I see out of Ryan. He’s got the talent.

Brad Keselowski said.

The comments from Brad Keselowski shows the team have a lot confidence on Preece to succeed at RFK. This put a lot of pressure in him for the 2025 season and it would be interesting to see how the veteran racer would perform under the pressure.
