Richard Petty admits 2025 is “almost like starting with a new team” for Legacy MC
NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty has shared his feelings about how the 2025 Cup season is going to playout for Legacy Motor Club.

Though Richard Petty is no longer actively involved in the NASCAR as a team owner, he is still playing a significant part as the minority owner of Legacy Motor Club, alongside Jimmie Johnson and the majority owner Maury Gallagher. The team is going through one of the biggest restructurings they have ever had.
They joined Toyota at the end of the 2023 season and had their first year as TRD client’s last season. It was a year mixed results, and coming into the 2025 season, they are looking to redeem themselves with new hirings. Richard Petty, sharing his views about the upcoming season, admitted that he is looking forward to the sophomore season with Toyota.
We’re looking really looking forward to it. We’ve had one year with Toyota, and now we’ve just redone the whole business of Legacy [Motor Club].

He detailed how they have signed new drivers, crew chiefs and engineers to the team, with the hopes of making the team better. They feel like they are starting a whole new team.
We got the same drivers, but we got different crew chiefs, we got different people working on the car, we got different engineers. So, it’s really almost like starting with a new team.
Richard Petty added.
Richard Petty is excited about the restart
In the same discussion, the seven times Cup champion shared his feelings about the how the 2025 season will play out for them with the new signings. He is hoping that they will be rewarded for putting the people at the right spot.
So, I think all of our people are excited about it. [We] Have put the right people together in the right place. So, it’s gonna be exciting for us just because it’s gonna be like completely starting all over again.

The comments from Richard Petty shows how much he is banking on the new recruits of LMC to help them get out of the tough phase they are in. It will be interesting to see how they will perform in the 2025 season with the changes.
