The 2024 NASCAR season marked a special year for seven times Cup champion Richard Petty and his whole family. It marked the 75th anniversary of the dynasties journey with the sport, starting with Hall of Famer Lee Petty. They were honored for their contributions throughout the years, and it made 2024 special for them while reflecting on it during holidays week.
As a special present to his fans, Richard Petty via the Petty Family Racing YouTube channel shared a holiday themed video. In it he was asked about the biggest Christmas gift he has ever gotten. He recalled a time from his childhood where they got an electric train one time, a gift they wanted for a long time.
You know, I think the biggest thing that we ever got, we got an electric train one time, and that was something we’d been been wanting for years.

Petty grew up without electricity in his house and what made the gift special was the fact that they got soon after they got electricity to the house. For him and his brother it is still memory they cherish forever.
But we didn’t have no electricity. So, once they got electricity to the house, then I guess Santa Claus decided it was time to bring electric train. And that was probably the biggest Christmas that my brother and myself ever had.

Richard Petty doesn’t care much about New Year
In the same Video, Petty was asked about his thoughts and superstitions around New Year. Unlike the majority, the NASCAR Hall of Famer doesn’t care much about the day and sees it as just another number being added to the day.
We never had any superstitions. New Year’s was just another day. You went from one number to another number and you never really thought that much about it.

During the same conversation earlier, he had also revealed that he isn’t a big fan of New Year resolutions and hasn’t done anything like that ever. They video also shares some wholesome moments and stories associated with the Petty family.
