Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Carson Hocevar have been in the news for the wrong reasons lately. The two drivers are engaged in a war of words since the Cup Series race in Nashville. As things escalated last time out in Mexico, Stenhouse Jr. is reportedly trying to have a charity boxing match against the Spire Motorsports driver.
Stenhouse has not minced his words over his beef with Hocevar. The Hyak Motorsports star has gone as far as threatening his rival over possible confrontations. This has raised tensions in the field, while Hocevar has stood firmly by his ground as well.
Recently, podcaster Spider from Barstool Sports, made a bold claim over Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wanting a charity boxing match against Carson Hocevar. In Mexico, the 37-year-old reached out to Spider asking to get him and Hocevar into ‘Rough N’ Rowdy,’ an amateur boxing event that packs some entertaining action for viewers. Spider claimed that Stenhouse wanted the match to be for charity, perhaps allowing his beef with the Spire Motorsports driver have a positive impact.
So one of the drivers in Mexico City, I’m not gonna tell you who just yet, asked me to sanction a Rough and Rowdy match. Them vs another driver for charity purposes… Do you have any guesses over who it might have been? [Stenhouse and Hocevar] So Ricky came up to me and he’s like ‘Hey man, if you could get me into Rough and Rowdy. We’ll make it happen.’
Spider said on Rubbin is Racing podcast.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ‘calmer’ since threatening Carson Hocevar
Stenhouse Jr. is a man who wears his emotions on his sleeves. The Hyak Motorsports star has not been afraid to express his anger and frustration in NASCAR throughout his career. The case has been no different since his first clash with Carson Hocevar in Nashville.

Though, things escalated in Mexico when Hocevar spun his car while actually being a lap down. So much so, that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. threatened that he would resort to violence against the Spire Motorsports driver.
It seems that since the race, the 37-year-old has gone through some introspection. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. claimed that he has calmed down since his outburst in Mexico. He credited his wife, Madyson Joye Stenhouse for helping him talk off the entire saga. Though, Stenhouse made it clear that he had not forgotten the incident when Hocevar made him spin for no reason, impacting his race result.
I’ve calmed down a little bit. My wife talks me off the ledge sometimes. She does a good job of that. But it doesn’t change the fact that you get spun out for no reason. Felt like it cost us at least seven spots. We didn’t wreck like at Nashville, but we put ourselves in a spot.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. told SiriusXM.
It was disappointing for fans to see Carson Hocevar inflict another controversy in Mexico. The Spire Motorsports driver simply was too aggressive at a stage when he should have not picked such a battle against Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Stenhouse on the other hand, could not be blamed as the Hyak Motorsports driver wouldn’t have expected to be pushed when the other car was a lap down. While Stenhouse has not given any indication of a charity fight publicly, such a match-up would undoubtedly garner immense attention from fans, making it an obvious success.
