The NASCAR Cup Series is the premier stock car racing championship in the world. It features drivers with different qualities and weakness, making every race dramatic events. Because of the different tendency’s drivers on the track, not everyone is fond of racing against each other on the track, especially in clutch situations.

The defending Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney has two such drivers he would like to avoid, but ironically, he can’t if he wants to win races. He revealed in an interview with The Athletic responding to a question asked to him through Jeff Gluck by Chandler Smith, that he doesn’t always enjoy racing HMS’s Kyle Larson and JGR’s Denny Hamlin, as both of them takes a lot of space while racing.

Everyone has their tendencies when you’re racing them. You learn that when you run against these guys for a long time. Do they like to put you in bad situations, trying to make you lift? Like Denny and Larson, they love to try to make you lift. It’s not a bad thing, but they do like taking a lot of space.
Ryan Blaney told Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.

The Team Penske driver explained that Larson and Hamlin put drivers in tough situation and make them lift by shoving and pushing them up the race track. This puts their rivals in a tough spot where they have two options either to wreck or bail out.

Like, if they’re on the inside, they like to do the shove-it-in-there-and-push-you-up-the-racetrack and try to put you in a tight spot.

Despite this Ryan Blaney loves racing the duo

Though it’s often irritating for him to race the Larson-Hamlin duo, Ryan Blaney loves racing them because of their greatness. He admitted that he would always be extra cautions o restarts if one of the two is lining up alongside him.

I wouldn’t say I don’t enjoy it; I love racing with those guys, because they are great racers. But if I do have a restart next to those guys, that’s in the back of my head: ‘Oh, they might take a lot of space and I just have to be ready for that.’
Ryan Blaney said.

The Ford driver has point about Larson and Hamlin being the great racers with the ability to irritate their rivals. But the only way he can become better and win more championship in the sport is to learn from them and use it his advantage.
