The defending Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney came into the Round of 8 opener with hopes of securing a race win and get himself a spot in the Championship-4. But his dreams were shattered on the first ever session of the week, as he wrecked his car during the practice and was forced to take the back-up cars, along with starting at the back of the field.

Ryan Blaney was able to get out of the mess earlier in the race and get into the midfield before a crash ruining his whole race. While talking about the final result, that has now put him in a must win situation going into the Martinsville and Homestead, the Team Penske Racing driver has admitted that the weekend was long and crappy for him.

He went on admit that he felt he couldn’t do anything the whole week as the unfortunate incidents happened left and right. But Blaney is hopeful that he can get out of the mess, and bounce back in the last two races in 2024, fighting for the win he now desperately needs to make it in to the season finale.

So yeah long weekend. It’s one of those crappy weekends, man. I just feel like you can’t do nothing, right? Nothing’s going your way, but hopefully go contend the next couple weeks so we can do try to win race

Ryan Blaney told Frontstretch.com.

Ryan Blaney was hopeful of having a great race halfway to the race

The Ford driver got himself in a great spot halfway to the race, and running 15th, he was confident about maximizing points on the subsequent stages. But he didn’t even get a chance to rerack at the start of the second stage, as he was caught up in a big crash that included his ex-teammate, Brad Keselowski.

I felt great. I think I got I got halfway there. I think I got to like 15th and I was like ready to restack and like, all right… we’re gonna start stage two. I’m 15th halfway there. I feel pretty good about it. I’m at least just trying to contend and I feel like we were gonna get better and make cleaner air, too. So yeah, I felt great about our pace. It was just a matter of getting there and I just didn’t even get to like, you know rerack and go there from there…

Ryan Blaney said.

After missing out on his best shot at win at Vegas, Blaney is going into next-two races knowing he got no shot at getting into the finale on points. Hence it will be interesting to see how he will perform in the coming years.
