The NASCAR Cup garage is back at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 after a three years absence. Indy has been hosting road course Cup aces in the last three season and the fans were really disappointed with NASCAR ignoring the iconic Oval.  The defending Cup champion Ryan Blaney is coming in with the hopes of winning the race.

The Team Penske driver admitted that it has been his dream to win a race at the iconic track and do the kissing the bricks tradition. He claimed that he isn’t just going to kiss the bricks but is going to lick it though it would be nasty. Ryan Blaney is hoping that he would be able to have a good qualifying and use the edge to succeed.

I don’t know. I mean, it’s try to find yourself out front at the right time on the last lap, I guess, I don’t know. Get a better idea of how our speed is like today, hopefully, we’ll qualify well. Find ourselves on good strategy during the race. Kissing the bricks is like a dream come true, ask anybody that’s what they want to do. I’m going to lick the bricks if I win, that’s for sure, it’s going to be nasty, but it’s going to happen.
Ryan Blaney said at Indy.

The kissing the bricks tradition started back in 1996, with NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett after winning the race kissed the bricks with his crew chief. This was done as honor to the track’s legacy, which was opened in 1909 with a surface made up of bricks. It resonated with the whole NASCAR nation and continues to be a moment driver dreams of experiencing.

That’s just what everyone wants to do, they’ve seen it growing up on TV for however long they’ve been watching racing and IndyCars in general. I don’t know when they started kissing the bricks but to be able to do that with RP [Roger Penske], that would be the coolest moment of my life.
