Ryan Blaney is NASCAR royalty. The Team Penske driver comes from a family with an incredible racing legacy, tracing all the way back to his great-grandfather. Despite such a legacy in the world of motorsport, Blaney’s father Dave Blaney is not fond of superspeedways in NASCAR.
Dave Blaney is a racing icon. He won the USAC Silver Crown championship in 1984, before making his foray into the World of Outlaws. That’s not all, the senior Blaney raced in over 120+ Xfinity races and 470+ cup races. Unlike his son he wasn’t able to produce solid run, due to not having the best cars.
Ryan Blaney spoke about his family at Daytona International Speedway after he took a shock win at the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Both his parents came to the iconic superspeedway to watch the final race of the season, leading to a perfect family celebration.
However, Blaney revealed that he was shocked to see his parents at the track. The Team Penske driver claimed that his father simply despised watching superspeedway racing. Fans would’ve not expected Dave Blaney to hate plate racing considering he had raced in the Cup Series.
I can’t believe they come here. Because Dad hates speedway racing. He hates watching it. Absolutely despises it.

Moreover, Ryan Blaney joked that his mother would always have the nerves get the better of her when it came to his races. Thus, the Ford driver would often ask her to stay at home instead. Nevertheless, the stars aligned for the Blaney family as the No. 12 driver made it to Victory Lane.
My mom is a nervous wreck the whole time. I’m like: Just stay home. They just pace and pace and pace. But it’s fortunate that we were able to pull one out tonight, so it was good to see him in Victory Lane.

Ryan Blaney gives ‘props to everybody’ after Daytona win
NASCAR is infamous for its wrecks, particularly at tracks like Daytona. Drivers can be forced out of the race for no fault of their own. This was the case with Alex Bowman, who got wrecked on Lap 27. However, for Ryan Blaney, the race remained clean as he managed to stay clear of any trouble.

The Team Penkse driver asserted that his victory did not come easily. Blaney insisted that his rivals were quite clever on-track and pushed him to the limit without causing any incidents. The No. 12 driver declared that this led to a great race without any compromises. So much so, he applauded the entire field for keeping it clean for the majority of the race. Albeit there was a big wreck at the start.
I thought they raced me, they raced really smart and well, and didn’t throw their cars in any foolish situations. I thought everyone did a great job of just having a great race, but also keeping it clean as well. So, I think props to everybody.

Certainly, Ryan Blaney is in the perfect position heading into the Playoffs. The Daytona victory gives him the right momentum for the business end of the tournament. However, the real challenge begins now. It will be crucial for the Team Penske star to make his way to the Final Four.
