The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season so far has been a roller coaster ride for Ryan Blaney. He started the season tough, before getting into rhythm and securing front-row finishes, eventually a win at Nashville. But since the victory lane visit, he has consistently been getting caught in other driver’s mess and the bad luck followed him to Sonoma last week.

While the Team Penske driver is having the worst time of his 2025 season, his Chevy rival Shane van Gisbergen is having the time of his life with Trackhouse Racing in the road course racing stint. He marked his third win of the season this Sunday, all of them coming in road course style races. Ryan Blaney recognized the Kiwi racers’ greatness after Sunday’s event.

Talking to Frontstretch after the race, the No:12 Ford driver explained how smooth the veteran races when it comes to no-oval races and how he controls all aspect of the race, from pace to execution. He admitted the three times Supercars champion was in solid form throughout, making it yet another clinical performance.

He’s really good at these places. He’s just really smooth. He’s really fast with lap times, but he’s also like, not out of control doing it, so he can save tire while also maintaining solid lap times to keep him out front. So yeah, I mean, he just puts on a clinic at these road courses.

Ryan Blaney said via Frontstretch.

The technical superiority SVG has alongside the addition experience in his bag has helped him to dominate all three races of that he has won this year. Ryan Blaney pointed out that the remaining racers of the NASCAR garage has to work extra hard on their race game to have any chance getting the better of the No:88 Chevy driver.

The last three, from Mexico to Chicago and here, he’s really dominated, honestly, all three of those. He’s just really technical in how he does it, and his approach to it. He’s just a really, really solid race car driver. We’re all going to have to get a lot better at these places to have a chance.

Ryan Blaney explains why he won’t take revenge for Sonoma clashes

One of the major topic discussions after the Sonoma race was the radio antics of Ryan Blaney. The veteran racer is known for hie meltdown after incident, and he was involved in two such incident on Sunday. Initially it was the Chris Buescher incident earlier in the race and then the Chase Briscoe clash that took him out late in the race.

One of the major criticisms of the racer is the fact that despite the meltdown, he gets over these things and never take revenge for these clashes like some of his counterparts. A fan called him out for it on X, and the Ford drivers responded to it, asserting he was raised right and his rants are just a way to get over the frustration.

Maybe it’s because I was raised correctly and don’t wreck people and put the guys who work on this stuff for hours on end in a tough spot. Yes, I get upset in the moment but it’s a way to vent and let things go. I do wish I wasn’t that way and people didn’t judge me for it but it’s who I am, unfortunately.

It was a perfect answer from the veteran racer, as it perfectly explains how he approaches the races and also showed how much of a good job his parents did raising him. He won’t be changing his approach anytime soon and he shouldn’t as his meltdowns on team radio is something the fans enjoys.
