The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season so far has been a roller coaster ride for Team Penske Racing veteran Ryan Blaney. Since the start of the season, he has having subsequent good and bad set of weekends, that has earned him just one win this year. Currently he is having a bad streak, with this Sunday’s race at Sonoma Raceway being the newest addition to the list.
Ryan Blaney was one of the two drivers that DNFed on the day, due to an aggressive encounter with RFK Racing star driver and his Ford teammate Chris Buescher. On the 61st lap of the race, he made contact with the No:12 Ford from behind and spun him out. This resulted in another trademark Blaney radio rant.
Thanks a f***ing lot, d***head.

After getting released from the infield care center following another clash with Chase Briscoe that marked the end of his day, the 2023 Cup champion talked about the incident and pointed out that he was racing really well till the incident. He asserted that he doesn’t understands if the JGR driver intentionally did it or whether it was a mistake. Blaney is sure that the No:17 Ford overdrove at turn one and he was just an innocent bystander.
It was going well until we got wrecked by the 17. I don’t know. You got to talk to him. I don’t think he intentionally meant to do it, but he overdrove (Turn) 1, and I was the innocent bystander.
Ryan Blaney declared.
Further talking about the point, Ryan Blaney asserted that they were racing pretty strong on the day, as his team fielded a top-5 worthy car of the day and admitted that it is a shame he couldn’t take advantage of the opportunity. When luck isn’t on their side, regardless of how fast the car is, the result won’t match expectations in racing.
I thought we were really good today. Third, fourth, fifth-place car, and yeah, shame that it didn’t end like I thought. We had speed in our car, so it’s unfortunate.
Ryan Blaney added.
Ryan Blaney laments getting caught in someone else’s mess
Two weeks ago, at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he was involved in a similar race incident that resulted in him failing to finish the race. The incident cost him a great finish, a solid point-paying day if not a win, just like what happened this week.

Talking about this streak of getting caught in someone else’s mess, and admitted that he was put in situation by Chris Buescher, where he didn’t have nowhere to go. He tried get clear, the No:17 Ford right-reared him and ended his day.
As usual for this year, got caught up in someone else’s mess. I got to the apron and there was really nowhere else for me to go but the apron. I tried to get there and get clear of it, but they kind of came down and got me in the right-rear and I ended up in the fence. There was no missing that one.
Ryan Blaney said.
Since his win at Nashville, the veteran racer has secured just one top-5 as well as top-10 finish from the six starts their after. Three of the races ended with finishes outside the top-30 for him, running their momentum and confidence, with just six more races left in the schedule before the 2025 Cup Series playoffs start.
