The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney, like his teammate Joey Logano, has had it tough in the 2025 playoffs. They grind their way into the R-8 and now going into the finale race of the penultimate round is in a must-win situation. He has mixed feelings about the weekends despite winning two races in his last five outings at the venue.

Talking to the media ahead of the Martinsville Cup race, which he will start at P31 after a tough qualifying. When asked about his mindset and preparation for the weekend, Ryan Blaney admitted that the past won’t matter on Sunday for him. The only thing they can do is give 100% and hope for the bets result.

Yeah, just understand what needs to be done this weekend. And I don’t know, you can’t control anything that happened last week. It’s in the past, it’s done. So how do we go into this weekend? We know what we have to do and just go try to be 100% of what this 12 group can be.

Ryan Blaney said via motorsport.com.

He pointed out that the only thing he is asking and demanding from his team is to give their 100%. Give their bets effort, put the No:12 car in a position good enough to win races. By this way they can go back to home, even they lose the race, with their head held high.

And I’d say that’s all I’ve ever asked of people in our group: just give your best effort through the week, through the weekend. Just put up all of yourself, and if it’s enough, that’s awesome. If not, at least you know you did everything you could and nothing was left on the table, and you hold your heads high, win or lose.

Ryan Blaney asserts it is easy to get in these modes

In the same conversation, he asserted that his whole team understands this demand and always tries to give their everything no matter the results. He pointed out that at the end of the if they can depart the venue feeling proud of themselves regardless of the result, it can be considered successful weekend.

So that’s just the kind of way I approach it. That’s the way this whole group approaches it. You just give it your all, no matter the outcome. Yeah, one outcome is obviously better than the other, but if you gave everything you had, then you can still be proud of your effort.

Further talking about the point, he asserted that it easy for his team to get into the 100% mode as they always perform every weekend and always approaches race weeks with the same attitude. This helps them to remain consistent, which played a significant role in them getting so far as R-8.

Pretty easy to get in these modes. It’s just the weekend where you have to go perform, and we perform every weekend. It’s just how good can you perform compared to others this weekend? So, I guess that’s how we’ve approached this week leading up to this event.

Ryan Blaney added.

The most recent results and qualifying don’t show positive signs of the No:12 team being competitive enough to win on Sunday. But the one thing the Ford driver has proved many times is they are capable of winning when they are against the wall. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver.
