The NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington in Sunday witnessed Brad Keselowski ending his 110-race winless streak and Ford ending his winless run of the 2024 season. In the same time for Ford’s leading man and defending champion Ryan Blaney, the race was nightmare and an end to his consistent run so far this year.

He ended the race at dead-last (P36) after he got DNFed in a crash that occurred on lap 129 of the race. Ryan Blaney fund himself in a three-way battle for top-5 position with Martin Truex Jr. and William Byron midway to the stage two of the race. The No:12 Penske Ford got squeezed to the outside wall and it caused significant damage to the car.

Penske crew failed to get the car back running before the DVP clock ran out and he DNFed. After the exit, he talked to the media about accidently hitting Byron during the caution period. He remined the No:24 HMS Chevy driver that he will save the hit for another time. The defending champion was really pissed which was evident from his rant on the team radio while on the pit-lane.

I’m not gonna hit him, I’ll save that for another time. I almost did on accident, I got on the apron and the toe link was busted. Almost hit him when I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to show my displeasure, so we’ll see where it goes.
Ryan Blaney said.

Ryan Blaney believes he deserves to be unhappy with William Byron

The Ford driver went on to point out that the wreck occurred because the No:24 Chevy used up space that he didn’t have to use at the moment. So he believes he deserves to be unhappy about the actions from one of the front runners for the championship in Byron.

Just wanted to show I wasn’t happy. After watching the replay, I kind of deserve not to be happy. He used up some good track that I thought he didn’t have to use up.
Ryan Blaney added.

The No:22 will have to get over the disappointment soon, as with the win of Keselowski, the Ford garage has a road-map towards getting back to victory lane. They need to work on quickly identifying the true reasons behind RFK Racing’s superior speed and learn from it before next race week.
