The 2025 NASCAR Cup series season so far hasn’t been kind to 2023 Cup series champion Ryan Blaney. Bad luck has been derailing his progress in the races and this Sunday’s event at Homestead Maimi was exception. He had one of the best cars of the day, which helped him to dominate before the Mustang’s engine bailed on him.

For the second time in three races, the Team Penske racers’ Ford engine gave up mid-race. Ryan Blaney led 124 laps in the Straight Talk Wireless 400, before the No:12 Fords engine exploded and created a huge cloud of smoke. The incident ruined any chance of the veteran winning his maiden race of the 2025 Cup season.

He was furious over the incident on the team radio, which he deserves to be. Blaney was heard conforming the blow up, apologizing to his team for what happened and later thanking them for giving him a fast car.

I’m fucking blowing up or something! You have got to be sh***ing me. … Oh my God, sorry fellas. It’ll go our way eventually, I hope. Appreciate the fast car.

Ryan Blaney said on team radio.

Ryan Blaney didn’t have any warning before the engine failure

The star Ford driver in his post-race interview shared his feelings about how the engine failure came out as a massive surprise for him and pointed out that he didn’t have any warning about it. He admits the situation just stinks for him.

I didn’t have any warning. It just laid over when I got back to wide-open down the front, and that was all she wrote. It just stinks.

Ryan Blaney said.

Further talking about it he highlighted how he had a fast car, and it was the pit-stop incidents that cost him track positions, showing how solid the car was. He also highlighted the good battle he had with Bubba Wallace and race winner Kyle Larson.

We had a really fast Ford Mustang. We led a lot of laps. We lost a little bit of track position there with some stuff on pit road, but got back to third and it was a great race between me and Bubba and Larson…

Ryan Blaney added.

Ryan Blaney sees some positives amidst the hardship

Despite the disappointment, Blaney sees some positives from the race as well. He highlighted that he was going to have a good battle for win in the last 60 laps before the engine failure, but is determined to keep fighting as they had a fast car.

It was gonna be a heck of a battle the last 60 laps or so, but it just didn’t really work out for us. We’ll continue to keep fighting. I appreciate the 12 guys for just giving me a hot rod. It was an incredibly, incredibly fast race car today.

Ryan Blaney said.

He is focused on keeping their heads up and battle for win in the upcoming races of the season. Blaney believes that his team fielding fast cars is a positive, though results aren’t good enough.

We’ll keep our heads up. It’s just one of those things where it’s not really going our way right now, but the good news is we’re bringing fast cars, and that’s all you can ask for. We’ll keep on moving.

Ryan Blaney added.

The comments from Blaney shows a champion mentality, who is determined to keep negativity over performance and mistakes away from him. It would be interesting to see how long it will take Blaney to bounce back.
