Ryan Newman aka ‘The Rocket Man’ is ready to make his return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Richmond Raceway this Friday. He will be racing the No.39 car and will make his debut with the SS Racing team owned by veteran racer Hermie Sadler and Virginia Senator Bill Stanley with Neal Cantor as the crew chief.

Ryan Newman wants to focus more on grassroots racing in his free time succeeding his departure from RFK Racing in the Cup Series as a result of no prevailing opportunities in the Cup Series.

Ryan Newman has had a pretty solid career in the Cup Series as well as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and is pretty confident to return to the sport and his favorite track, Richmond Raceway.

Having Simply Southern as the primary sponsor on the modified this Friday, April 1st,” said Ryan Newman.

He concluded by saying that it is a perfect choice of teaming up with an apparel brand with common interests. He concluded by saying that he believes his team to be competitive and have a chance at securing the win on Friday.

“It is the perfect way to establish a partnership with the iconic apparel brand that I have so many things that we value in common – family, giving back, being simple and living better. I expect us to be competitive and have a chance to win Friday night,” concluded Ryan Newman.

Ryan Newman isn’t new to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour but this Friday will mark his debut with the NextGen car. With over 30 previous NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts, he won 4 times, two each at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, and during last years’ race on the Richmond Raceway, he finished 4th, that being his best finish for the season and tour.

When it comes to the Cup Series, Ryan Newman has secured 18 career wins with about 268 top 10’s which is a massive amount of poles under P10. Newman isn’t new to Richmond Raceway either as he already has one victory in 2003 and eight top 5’s and twenty top 10 finishes.

While it’s not known at this point as to how many Tours Ryan Newman will take part in, it is pretty evident that he’ll be returning for more events.
