2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson came into this weekend with a historical goal at Homestead Miami. He was racing in the all three national series events, hoping sweep victories. The veteran started strong, winning the Truck Series race for Spire Motorsports, despite a big spin early in the race.

Kyle Larson was close to continuing streak in the Xfinity Series as he found himself upfront in overtime restart, in the side lane. But things went south, owing to a mistake from Sam Mayor who hit Larson from behind at the start, killing the momentum and balance of the car. JRM veteran Justin Allgaier took full opportune of the situation to secure the win.

Kyle Larson was fuming over the missed opportunity after the race and didn’t hesitate to show his frustration. He called incident a bummer, accused Mayor of slamming onto his back, and admitted he has been having similar heartbreak multiple times over the years.  The comments seem to indicate, he feels like he choked while having a shot at win.

I don’t know, I’ve lived through it a number of times here. Obviously, a bummer, again, to have another Homestead race play out that way. Yeah, I can’t go when my rear tires are off the ground. So, I know it looks like I choked another one away, but I did everything I thought I could. The 41 just lagged back and slammed the shit out of me…

Kyle Larson is looking forward to wining the Xfinity machine soon

Despite the disappointment, Larson already shifted his focus. He is looking ford for Sunday’s cup race, as has been winless so far in the 2025 season and his upcoming Xfinity outing with Hendrick Motorsports. Larson is determined to get back to the victory lane.

Bummer but cool to have as big of a lead as we had. I would love to get a win for everybody in the 17 car. You know, they don’t get to race all the time, so it’s good. So, it’s good we can run up front like we did today. I got one more opportunity in this thing later on here in a few weeks. So, we’ll see if we can get it done then.

The comment from Larson shows how competitive he is on the track, fighting for wins every weekend and how much he wanted the triple win. It would be interesting to see how Larson will use the motivation from the loss to his advantage in the cup event.
