The 2023 NASCAR Cup Season witnessed street race magic, as three times Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen made his Cup debut with Trackhouse Racing and won the race with a solid performance. This inspired his move to USA to pursue a career in stock car racing, a full-time year earning him four wins in 2024, and now a rookie Cup season in 2025.
In this year so far Shane van Gisbergen won three races, all of them coming in road course races, where the rest of the Cup grid is failing miserably to match his speed. Though his oval racing needs significant improvement, he is in a good spot to win the Rookie of The Yeat honor as well as a deep playoff run. Now he rewarded for it with a multi-year contract extension.
The 36 years old veteran deserves the muti-year extension as his three wins is more than enough for Trackhouse Racing to recoup all their investment on him, while also opening up opportunities for them to expand to more racing series around the world, as the team has been looking into ventures outside NASCAR.
The co-owner of the team Justin Marks, who is also a racer, is happy they were able to sign one of their star drivers, an international racing superstar considering there another star driver Daniel Suarez is set to exit the team at the end of the season. The veteran racer called SVG one of the greatest racers ever, considering his move to USA and how fast he adapted, and is dominating.
We are getting to watch one of the superstars of racing. What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty. He’s moved to the other side of the world, learned a new form of racing and at times dominated the competition. He’s one of the greatest.

Shane van Gisbergen shared his thoughts on contract extension
The Kiwi racer also shared his thoughts on the extension via a statement. He admitted that Trackhouse is his home and asserted that he is thankful to Marks to give him that one race deal for inaugural Chicago Street race that changed the direction of his career. It came in a time when he was falling out with Supercars and the underwhelming new car added to the series.

I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home. Trackhouse gave me the opportunity to race at Chicago in 2023. That was just a one-race deal, and everything that has happened since then is because of the chance Justin [Marks, Trackhouse founder and owner] took on me.
Shane van Gisbergen said.
Further talking about the point, the Red Bull sponsored racer pointed out that everyone at Trackhouse deserves the credit for making him feel like home in USA and declared that he is cherishing every moment he has had with the team. He understands that he has a lot of a to left to learn but is happy with how things are going at the moment.
The men and women at Trackhouse have helped me feel at home in this new challenge, and I’ve been loving every minute of it. We still have a lot of work to do, but I couldn’t be happier.
Shane van Gisbergen added.
The comments from the Kiwi racer shows he has a lot confidence in the team and their future together. If they can wok hard enough on his oval racing, with enough experience, the No:88 Chevy team can contend for championship with the right car before SVG’s retirement.
