Bubba Wallace is one of the well-known figures in the NASCAR cup series grid who has a strong presence on and off the track. Being the only full-time Black racer in the series Wallace always has been subject to some unwanted or untimely criticisms and scrutiny on and off the track, from fractions of the NASCAR community.
Wallace joined Netflix to produce and release a documentary series named ‘Race: Bubba Wallace’, which gives fans a look into the 23XI Racing driver’s personal and professional life. The series also shed light on his emotional and mental struggles he had to endure due to censures that came his way. Now in a recent interview, he has revealed who he believes is to be his worst critic.
What Bubba Wallace had to say about his worst critic
Bubba Wallace revealed that he is his biggest and worst critic as he often goes hard on himself for making mistakes. He went on to say that sometimes it can be a good self-motivational activity for him but added that there is the possibility that you are too hard on yourself which inflicts a harder state. Bubba Wallace went on to say that he has grown enough to let go of self-criticism.
“I am my own worst critic. You know, when I make a mistake, I’m super hard on myself. And sometimes it’s okay to have a little bit of self-motivation, but when you stoop as low as I do, it’s tough to climb back out of,” Bubba Wallace said.
“But I think I’ve graduated from that point in my life hopefully. I haven’t made a big enough mistake to let my mind tell me otherwise,” Bubba Wallace added.

Darrell Wallace jr. A.K.A Bubba Wallace has a dark history with his father Darrell Wallace Sr. as they have gone through a lot in the past for them to easily get back to the norm. But he now reveals that following the release of his Netflix documentary, in which he opens up about his relationship with his father, Wallace Sr. has reached out to him with a positive message as his family hoped for. Wallace jr. added that they have a lot to go before getting back to normal.
“To be honest with you, the docu-series just came out, and shortly after I received a text message from my father, a very positive text message. That surprised me, but my family and I were praying for it. So, I think we’re starting to rekindle. There’s a lot of work to be done,” Bubba Wallace said.
