Spire Motorsports has been making major investment into sport over the last two seasons and their veteran driver Corey LeJoie has been at the centre of it since he joined them in 2021. But the journey of the two together would come to end this season, as it was announced that the No:7 team will have a new driver from the 2025 season.
The co-owner Spire, Jeff Dickerson, in statement explained the decision to part ways with their driver. He highlighted the hard work Corey LeJoie has put in since 2021 to make them the mid-field powerhouse they have become and asserted that he is the corner stone of the team. Hence the team is really agonized by the situation.

Corey LaJoie has been a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports since 2021 and it would be impossible to overstate what he’s meant to this organization and how much I’ve agonized over this decision. Corey put his heart and soul into this team. He rolled up his sleeves and went to work before we had a race shop, a toolbox or even our own cars.Jeff Dickerson said in a statement.
He admitted that the decision to end leave the driver was made based on the poor performance of the veteran driver. The team determined it’s best to start with a clean slate from 2025 with Rodney Childers as the crew chief than having a driver who hasn’t been able to match his rookie teammate Carson Hocevar.
This is a performance-based business, and it just hasn’t been there for several reasons. All those reasons are factored in when it comes to making a decision of this magnitude. With Ryan moving upstairs and Rodney coming in next season, the best thing for Spire Motorsports is a clean slate for the No. 7 car in 2025.Jeff Dickerson added.
Corey LaJoie shares his verdict on the decision
Though he is sad, Corey LaJoie understands the decision and determined to end his final season with the team on strong note. He wants to reward everyone including his partners and family for their support and is looking forward to what is ahead of him beyond 2024.

We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series. This chapter ends after Phoenix, and I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.Corey LaJoie said.
While performance wise, Corey Lajoie current might fail to land a seat in the 2025 season, but he has 14 more races left this season to fix that. He also has the ability to attracts sponsors and it is one of his major assets that some team like Front Row Motorsports can use.
