10. Rusty Wallace’s 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix ($850,000)

NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace is one of the most successful drivers in the sport. He was the 1989 Winston Cup Series champion. However, that is not all. He has a long list of achievements. The Kodiak Pontiac Grand Prix that helped Wallace secure the 1989 Cup title symbolized his valor. Thanks to its history with Wallace, the car was sold at $850,000 at the auction.

9. Darrell Waltrip’s 1981 Buick Regal ( $900,000)

Darrell Waltrip competed in NASCAR from 1972 to 2000. He won the Winston Cup Series (Now known as Cup Series) thrice, in 1981, 1982, and 1985. He was also inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame and named to the 75 Greatest Drivers list. Waltrip’s 1981 Buick Regal is an iconic piece that honors him. It was sold for $900,000 at the auction.

8. Bill Elliott’s 1987 Ford Thunderbird ( $1.1 million)

Bill Elliott, famously known as “Million Dollar Bill” and “Wild Bill,” was the 1988 Winston Cup Series champion. The two-time Daytona 500 winner’s Ford Thunderbird was known as the fastest car. It holds a special place in NASCAR history and was auctioned at $1.1 million.

7. Jeff Gordon’s 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ( $1.1 million)

Jeff Gordon is considered one of the most influential drivers in NASCAR and a sensation in the sport. He was a four-time Cup Series champion in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001. His Chevrolet Monte Carlo was sold for $1.1 million. After all, who wouldn’t want to win his iconic V8-powered car with 830 hp? His Chevy car has a rich history thanks to his several victories.

6. Cale Yarborough’s 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ( $1.2 million) 

Cale Yarborough was a former Winston Cup driver, owner, and businessman. He is one of the two drivers in NASCAR history to win three consecutive titles. He won the 1976, 1977, and 1978 championships. This of course, added value to his car, which was auctioned at $1.2 million.

5. Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s 1994 Chevrolet Lumina ($ 1.3 million) 

Dale Earnhardt Sr., rightfully known as “the intimidator” and “Ironhead,” is considered one of the legends of NASCAR. He has seven Winston Cup Series championships to his name. He won the title in 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1994. Earnhardt Sr.’s 1994 Chevrolet Lumina contributed to his victory in the sport. It was sold at $1.3 million and is valuable for any car enthusiast.

4. Bobby Allison’s 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ( $1.4 million) 

Bobby Allison, the seven-time Winston Cup Series Most Popular Driver, was the 1983 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Known as one of the most notable cars, his Chevrolet Monte Carlo was sold at $1.4 million at the auction. His popularity contributed to the incredible auction price of the car.

3. David Pearson’s 1969 Ford Torino Talladega ( $1.8 million)

David Pearson competed in NASCAR’s top-tier series from 1960 to 1986. He won the 1966, 1968, and 1969 Grand National Series championships. This famous championship-winning car, the 1969 Ford Tornio Talladega, was auctioned at $1.8 million thanks to Pearson’s legacy in the sport. It is also one of the cars known for its exceptional design.

2. Junior Johnson’s 1963 Chevrolet Impala ($2.8 million)

Robert Glenn Johnson Jr. is well known as Junior Johnson. He won 50 NASCAR Cup races before his retirement. He also has 148 top-ten finishes and 46 poles. After retiring in 1966, he became a NASCAR team owner and won the championship with Cale Yarborough and Darrell Waltrip. Junior Johnson’s 1963 Chevrolet Impala was popularly known for its brilliant aerodynamics. It was sold at a massive amount of $2.8 million at the auction.

1. Richard Petty’s 1970 Plymouth Superbird ($3.5 million)

Richard Petty competed in NASCAR from 1958 to 1992. He is one of the most successful drivers in the sport. Nicknamed “The King,” Petty has seven Cup Series championships, tied with Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson. He was well-known for driving his No.43 Plymouth/Pontiac for Petty Enterprises. Petty’s 1970 Plymouth Superbird is a distinctive car with impeccable aerodynamics and a strong engine. The car was successful and broke several records during its days on the track. This iconic car driven by “The King” was sold for $3.5 million.
