The 23XI-FRM Charter Lawsuit is revealing many more things about NASCAR that wasn’t known to the public before. In what was supposed to be a legal battle for the sport’s monopolistic business, new information on the matter is revealing how the sport treats its people and teams. Now, in a shocking turn of events, Steve Phelps and Ben Kennedy‘s hatred towards Tony Stewart‘s SRX Series has come to light.

Amid the 23XI-FRM charter lawsuit going to trial on 1st December, messages between NASCAR’s leaders are being surfaced online. Initially, 23XI Racing was caught red-handed when they berated the team’s co-owner Denny Hamlin.

Moreover, NASCAR appealed to the court to keep its media rights deal with FOX and other companies a secret. However, everything cannot be kept behind the curtains as the latest round of revelations include secretive messages between the sport’s leaders.

Steve O’Donnell, Ben Kennedy, and Steve Phelps were discussing SRX Series, belittling the events. Some of the messages seem to criticize Denny Hamlin, who raced in an SRX Series event like his compatriots. Phelps made a brutal comment that the people involved in the matter, calling them ‘plain stupid’, and declaring they needed to put a knife the ‘trash’ series owned by Tony Stewart.

A group member: Oh great, another owner racing in SRX.
Steve O’Donnell: This is NASCAR. Pure and simple. Enough. We need legal to take a shot at this.
Steve Phelps: These guys are plain stupid. Need to put a knife in this trash Series.

Further, Steve O’Donnell doesn’t stop at belittling the SRX Series as he continues on to fire some shots at Tony Stewart as well. O’Donnell mentioned that the NASCAR leaders had a lot to get their arms around, as they would also lose any ‘goodwill’ in the matter. As such, he suggested others to put a smile on the face as a facade, as they would ultimately scheme and win behind the scenes.

Lots to get our arms around, but sadly any “goodwill” seems to be lost. So-smiles all around, but behind the scenes we scheme and we win.

Steve O’Donnell added in the groupchat.

Steve O’Donnell claimed SRX drivers are greedy for money

NASCAR drivers and team owners are certainly amongst the most competitive people in the pinnacle of stock racing. They dabble in multiple other series to not only improve in terms of racing, but to push their brand image to a newer level.

Though SRX Series was gaining popularity fast, it had to be shut down because of the market factors not favoring their growth. Now, the chats between the group chat also reveals how Steve O’Donnell talked about throwing money at the people and how they would switch up.

Steve O’Donnell revealed how NASCAR has had multiple big-name drivers working for other companies, such as Darrell Waltrip who shifted to FOX Sports, Tony Stewart who moved to NHRA and SRX Series, and other instances. O’Donnell claimed that this was ‘exhibit a’ that nobody gave a ‘sh*t‘ about how NASCAR made their entire careers. He even noted that paying the people some money made them switch up.

Actually you have one of the voices of Fox in Waltrip, an owner of multiple coo cars in Stewart, our most popular driver for years and one of our champs fathers etc. This is exhibit “a” that nobody gives a s**t about what got them their careers. Pay em some money and they are all in.

Steve O’Donnell said in the groupchat.

Certainly, all things considered, the case isn’t looking very strong for NASCAR. The sport made a big mistake back when they introduced the charter system. Now, the pinnacle of stock racing couldn’t back track on their statements even if they wanted to. Many more such news will surely be revealed in the time to come as the sport hopes to minimize as much damage as possible in the meanwhile.
