The NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway on Sunday witnessed the domination if Joe Gibbs Racing, with veteran Denny Hamlin securing the victory. He secured his 4th win of 2025 season, overcoming challenge from teammates Christopher Bell who led 67 alps and Chase Briscoe, who gave him a run for his money in the last laps of the race.
Denny Hamlin is the best on the grid, when it comes to defending the lead in the final laps of the race and he never holds back from making aggressive moves. But on Sunday, he raced calm, considering it was his teammates that was racing beside him and the young JGR driver shows the same respect back to their veteran team leader.
Chase Briscoe shared his thoughts on the situation after the race and admitted that it was almost impossible to past the No:11 Toyota driver, as the veteran did an impressive job by keeping him pinned to the wall. But he pointed out that, if the double overtime at the end had few more laps left, he could have pulled of an overtake.
I don’t know. He was doing such a good job of pinning me so tight that I couldn’t really do a whole lot. If I could have stayed there one more lap? I don’t know, it’s hard to say, right? I was two, three inches away from clearing him a couple of times, and could never get it done.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that Hamlin had the best car of the day, and his tore advantage wasn’t enough to overtake the veteran with pure speed. Then the ex-SHR driver admitted that if it wasn’t a JGR car that was ahead of him, he could made some move, obviously aggressive, to overtake the three times Daytona 500 winner. But he remained loyal to his team and had to settle for P2 owing to the decision.
Denny was probably the best car, so it was going to be hard to just pass him – even with the tire advantage, I couldn’t do it. I definitely think if it wasn’t a teammate, I could have done a lot of things differently to potentially win the race. But I didn’t want to screw one of the JGR cars.

Chase Briscoe is in a really good spot in terms of performance at the moment
Despite missing out on a win for a second straight race, there are more positives that negatives to take home for Briscoe. He has been on brilliant form in the last six races, securing top 10 finishes. Talking about it, the No:19 Toyota driver admitted that great that he has been one of the top 5 cars consistently for the last few weeks.

To a certain extent, we’ve been executing. Chicago, I should have run top five there, and I messed up and hit the wall with a couple of laps to go. From a speed standpoint, today we weren’t the best car, but outside of today, the last couple of weeks I feel like we’ve been a top two or three car everywhere we’ve gone.
Chase Briscoe said.
He believes in terms of performance, his team is a good spot, which is a good sign considering there are five more races left in the regular season. The bets time get back in form is the start of the playoffs. If they continue to execute at the same level, a deep playoff run is guaranteed.
I definitely feel like we’re in a really good spot right now. If the playoffs started right now, I’d feel great about it. We can still have a little bit more speed, but overall we’ve been executing and that’s what it takes a lot of the time.

The comments from Chase Briscoe also shows his confidence in the team and his willingness to work more produce good results for JGR. Being loyal to his team and teammates will help him a lot in his pursuit of the Cup Series championship.
