Teams often try to get slightest of advantages over their rivals while racing. While most teams stay within the white lines drawn by NASCAR, some others try bend such lines and benefit themselves. A similar case has reportedly happened at the last race in Roval, when NASCAR officials admitted that they knew teams were bribing rival engineers to get information regarding their setups from their rivals, which is a breach of the regulations set by the regulatory body.

NASCAR has witnessed massive scandals over the decades. With most scandals often affecting cars with a few exceptions here and there, the series became even stricter in ensuring that the rules were being followed. However, at the most recent race around the Roval, reports emerged that two teams had shared sensitive information which is prohibited under the regulations, sounding alarm bells around the NASCAR HQ.

As reported to AP, officials revealed that they knew a scandal had been brewing as a team which has none of its drivers in the playoffs bribed an engineer from other team to share setup information. While they reckoned that the engineer was on the lookout for a new team as his current contract with Joe Gibbs Racing was bound to expire by the end of the 2024 season.

With the details kept in mind, JGR might be in a bit of trouble in the next few weeks. However, no official complaint has been lodged by either party which can make the transfer of information between the two teams continue on for a while longer, exploiting the loophole with the investigation format.

NASCAR fans speculated on which team would have been the culprit

Though no formal investigation has been launched by the series owing to the lack of a complaint, this did not stop fans from speculating which team must have been the culprit. Moreover, people were left scrounging between two teams at most times while others drew comparison from a similar incident in IndyCar.

Fans pointed out two teams in the form of LMC and RCR and reckoned any one of them to be the offender. On the other hand, one fan drew comparison from the RLL cheating incident that happened in IndyCar, where two teams shared tire pressure information with each other, resulting in various penalties for the two outfits.

Apart from this, NASCAR would continue on the playoff train as the Round of 8 would be underway at Las Vegas. Thus, the next four races would decide who would become the 2024 Cup Series champion, whether we will see a repeat winner of the elusive title or another driver will add their name to the roll of honour.
