Tony Stewart admits SHR “didn’t have any choice” but to cease operations of the team
Tony Stewart shares his view on the circumstances of SHR closing down.

Stewart Haas Racing owners Gene Haas and Tony Stewart announced that they would be ceasing operations of team at the end of the 2024 season. The decision was made following the financial constraints the side fund themselves following poor performance in the Next-Gen era alongside losing top drivers in Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola to retirement who brought in sponsors.
Now ex-NASCAR champion team owner Tony Stewart has come out discussing the topic and has revealed that they team didn’t have any choice but to pull the curtain on the team. Though it was uneasy for the team to make the call, the situation demanded it.
Well, when you make big decisions like that, it’s never easy. But, you know, the situation we were in, we just really didn’t have a choice.Tony Stewart said via Query and Company on 93.5 and 107.5.
While Stewart is ending his connections with NASCAR, his co-owner Gene Haas isn’t. He would continue to operate a one car Cup team and SHR’s Xfinity wing under the branding of Haas Factory Team. Haas is going back to the days before the signed Stewart from Joe Gibbs Racing as a owner driver.

In the meantime Stewart took over the duties of driver TSR premier drag racing champion seat from his wife and while talking about his future plans revealed that he would vacate the seat as soon as his wife is back.
She still to this day says she’s getting back in the car, which makes me happy. If I even hear her talk like she’s not getting back in the car I’m not going to be very happy about it. I want my wife in a race car. It’s her passion.Tony Stewart said.
The veteran racer seems to really excited about becoming a dad for the first time and enjoying time with Stewart Jr. At the same time, he is also excited about his racing career and other ventures associated with the sport.
