Three times NASCAR Cup champion Tony Stewart has been one of the most talented drivers in the history of the sport and has achieved success only a few could match. Having a background in open wheel racing and Indy Racing League made Stewart the racer with the most experience at the Indianapolis Motor speedway.

Tony Stewart has raced both in the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400, alongside double duty in 1999 and 2001. His success at the track has been limited with one Indy league pole win and one Cup race win, making it a bittersweet experience for him.  It being the longest race of his life caused a love hate relationship for him.

Indy’s a Love-Hate. When things went well at Indy it was magical. If your car was off at Indy and you couldn’t manipulate it and fix it, it’s the longest race of your life…

Tony Stewart said via Cars and Culture with Jason Stein.

He confessed that every time he racer at the track, put more pressure on his shoulders than any other track he has ever raced in the sport. Stewart pointed out that he became more nervous in the race weeks at Indy.

Indy for me was kind of a Love-Hate because I probably put more pressure on myself every time we raced at Indy than any other racetrack in the world that I’ve ever been to and raced at. I was more nervous the week of that event than I would be going into any other event.

Tony Stewart revealed the standout moment of his career

In the same discussion Tony Stewart revealed the most standout of his career that saw him winning in almost every track, and multiple championships. But the most standout moment of his career has been winning the Cup title with SHR, making him the owner-driver to win a championship.

The one that just stands a little bit above the rest of them for obvious reasons is that Championship run at Homestead in 2011… To win the first championship for SHR and to be the last owner-driver to win a championship since Allen Quicki and in the dramatic fashion that it happened.

Tony Stewart said.

The comments from Tony Stewart shows how much the career he has built at SHR meant to him and how much it might have hurt him to announce the ceasing of the team’s operation in the 2024 season. The champion driver is now having the time of his life as a new dad and a NHRA top division drag racer.
