Shane van Gisbergen has made a full-time switch to the premier stock car racing scene in the Americas, this year. He also received massive support from his family to venture into the U.S.A. to expand his career further in motorsports. However, the Kiwi has been unable to do well in races for the past few weekends and was said to be demotivated. Subsequently, after speculations, he revealed the emotional news of the demise of his mother.

Due to his miraculous win at the Chicago Street Circuit, Shane van Gisbergen is a highly rated Supercar driver on the NASCAR front. This garnered him a lot of praise in the NASCAR garages and made his parents full of pride due to his brilliant performance. However, while racing in the Xfinity Series, his car was spotted with her mother’s last name (Wallace) on the No.97 door and later revealed the emotional reason behind it.

Been a pretty tough couple of weeks here with my Mum passing back home in NZ. Thanks to my teams for letting me run her last name on my door the past couple of weekends.
Shane van Gisbergen said

The 34-year-old stated that it has been quite a few tough weeks for him as his mother passed away in his home country. Subsequently, he thanked Trackhouse Racing for letting him run his mother’s last name for the past two races on the No.97 Chevy’s door and honoring her.

NASCAR fans showered Shane van Gisbergen with support

The No. 97 driver has been driving to the best of his abilities in the Xfinity camp and has claimed a solitary podium of his season in Atlanta. Moreover, he is a fan favorite due to his amiable nature, and when he disclosed the information about his loss, fans gathered in numbers and showered him with unwavering support.

The Kiwi received messages that showed support and solidarity between fans and him. Moreover, the fans prayed for his mother and hoped that he would return to his best after recovering from this unfortunate incident.

Moreover, Gisbergen is expected to make a visit home in between the races to be with his family back in New Zealand. He is anticipated to be back in Darlington for the race and achieve a podium to dedicate to his mother.
