The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked the end of a legacy as Martin Truex Jr. retired from full-time racing. He got the much-deserved rest after a successful career that lasted over 15 years. The No:19 team went on to sign Chase Briscoe as the new driver for 2025 and beyond.

Since the retirement was announced, it was reported that Martin Truex Jr. will make, potentially, his last attempt at winning the Daytona 500 in 2025. Initially, 23XI Racing was the team ready to give the veteran the opportunity, but the latest rumors suggest that Truck Series team TRICON Garage will make their debut instead with JGR’s help.

Now the co-owner of the team, David Gilliland, has responded to these claims. He asserted that the team’s primary focus is the five Cup sides, and no decision hasn’t been made on a Daytona entry. But he also didn’t completely rule out a move as well.

Right now, we’re focused on the Truck Series. Who knows what might happen one day, but right now the five truck teams, that’s where our focus is at.

Joe Gibbs Racing is set to make significant changes to its logo in 2025

The move of Martin Truex Jr. and the recent form of the team forced some significant restructuring at JGR. They have also made some small but important changes, such as adopting a new Cup logo, similar to the one they used in the Xfinity Series last season.

JGR is making the old-school JGRMX block logo its new preferred Cup logo, putting it on most at-track apparel, competition assets, and other public-facing locations after bringing it back last year in the Xfinity Series.

The team is hoping to get more brand recognition with the changes and it will be interesting to see if this will work out. The whole performance of the JGr squad without Martin Truex Jr. will also be a topic of discussion next season.
