With over a month left in the 2024 NASCAR season, the teams are getting things ready for the 2025 season and beyond. The silly season has already started with the teams announcing new drivers and crew for the upcoming season. Xfinity Series giants Joe Gibbs Racing is also making some serious announcement.
The first major announcement was the signing of Taylor Gray as the driver of the No. 54 Toyota GR Supra next season. It was also confirmed that the team will have a new owner in Ty Gibbs, the 2022 Xfinity Series champion and No:54 JGR Cup driver. He is the grandson of the teams’ NFL Hall of Fame owner Joe Gibbs.
The 2023 Cup rookie of the season seems really impressed with the opportunity provided to him and expressed his excitement via an Instagram story congratulating Gray, as he takes over Gibbs’ former car. The post was actually made before the Toyota team officially confirmed that the ownership will be passed to the third generation.

Taylor Gray is very thankful for the opportunity
For the 19 years old Taylor Gray, it’s the championship opportunity he has been looking forward for a longtime and he is determined prove himself in the 2025 season. He is excited and thankful for the opportunity and believe shaving Tyler Allen as the crew chief will give him a head start next season.

I am very thankful for this opportunity. I feel like I have learned a lot in the races I have ran this year and we can build on that next season. Being able to work with Tyler [Allen] and these guys for a few races has been a great head start on next season and getting that chemistry going, so I’m really excited about what we can do running together fulltime.

JGR and Toyota sees a lot of potential in the young driver, and with Denny Hamlin nearing retirement, he is a great talent for them to have as backup. It will be interesting to see how the teenager will perform next season under Ty Gibbs management.
