23XI Racing and Tyler Reddick started the 2025 Cup playoff strong as he alongside teammate Bubba Wallace cruised through the round with ease. But they lost all the advantage they gained after the first race of R-12 at New Hampshire and both racers have found themselves outside the cut-off line, owing to disappointing results.

Ahead of the Kansas weekend, a track where 23XI Racing has historically been strong, Tyler Reddick admitted that he is nervous about their playoff promotion hopes, after getting the a** kicked the last week. The main reason for concern is the fact that his team has failed to capitalize on the speed advantage they have at the track, in the last two seasons.

I think we all know we got our a**es handed to us last week…I think (we’re) fairly nervous. We had a stretch here where it was a 23XI Toyota or a Toyota car in general, we had a pretty good record here to be able to win races. I look at the last two or three times we’ve been here we’ve been missing a little bit of something.

Further talking about the point, he highlighted that the changes made to the car as well as the Goodyear tier has played a significant role in the uncertain results they have had. Their goal is to win or at least secure a top-5 finish for Sunday and the nervous situation they have found themselves in is inserting a lot of pressure on them.

The car changes, the Goodyear tires change, so naturally you’ve got to keep up with it. I think it’s fair to be nervous, there’s a lot that weighs on this weekend that its super important for us to either win or run top-5 all day and score a lot of points.

Tyler Reddick reveals how much points he needs to survive R-12 ahead of Roval

In the same interview, the No:45 Toyota driver shared his thoughts on how many points he has to secure before the Roval race to secure promotion. Though it’s a tricky spot, he believes he can afford to go into the weekend with a ten-point deficit and he has been able to get promotion after coming to Charlotte with a deficit in the past.

I really haven’t run through that yet but I’m almost positive the last two seasons we’ve gone into the Roval below the cutline. You never want to go into that race in that position but you don’t want to go into that race in a tricky spot… My gut would say even if we are outside by 10 points, it’s doable.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that reducing the 23 points deficit they have right now will not only depend on their performance, but also the performance of his rivals. Regardless of all the challenges he is confident that he can gets over the mark, given their past performance in similar situation.

Sitting where we are minus 23 points outside, that’s a pretty hard number to overcome. That’s counting on others not getting stage points…I would love to win and not worry about this next week, but we’ve been able to overcome a deficit twice over the last few years. That does give me confidence.

Tyler Reddick added.

The comments from the 23XI Racing drivers shows both concern and confidence. They have to be on their A-Game to survive and potentially secure their maiden race win of the season sooner than later. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the TRD team.
