Coming into the 2025 Cup season, a lot was expected from 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick who won the regular season championship last year and made it into the finale four. But with just six more races left in the season, he has found himself trying hard to end a winless streak and close to getting eliminated in the R-12.
The 23XI Racing and Toyota fans are really concerned about their star drivers’ performance in the season, as they have been complaining about the overall drop in elite results from the No:45 team. Talking about it on his most recent appearance in the Happy Hour podcast, Tyler Reddick admitted he has failed to improve his performance from last year and isn’t delivering what us expected of him.
I think when you really look at the details of it, it is not an improvement over last year, yes. Yeah, we haven’t performed quite like what we did last year. But it’s not like to an astronomical level.
Tyler Reddick said on the Door Bumper Clear podcast.
Further talking about the point, he tried to explain what the reason behind this drop is. He asserted that they haven’t been able to execute on a high level and have clean races this season, which has stripped them the opportunity to win races. His teammate Bubba Wallace on the other hand has had a positive development, performing better as well as winning the iconic Brickyard 400.
One other reason behind Reddick’s bad streak of results is the fact that unlike the 2024 season, the big-3 teams, HMS, JGR and Penske, are executing races betters. The likes of Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Kyle Larson and Shane van Gisbergen in road courses scored wins that would have been his if things remained same as last season.
When you don’t execute, when you don’t have a clean race, you’re not going to have the opportunity to win races, and you’re not going to get those top 10s and top 5s that you’re able to get when you have those clean days. I think when I was looking at it last, we scored like 50 or 60 less points than we did last year. It just shows the top teams have had cleaner years.

Tyler Reddick reveals his performance drop is the reality of the Next-Gen era
In the same conversation, Tyler Reddick shared more of his thoughts on the tough form he has found himself in the 2025 season. He pointed out that last year he was one of the fastest cars thought out the season and in a lot of races this season, he was among the top-3, but not close enough.

When you look at where we’re at, where we run and what our speed is compared to the field, I think last year we were the fastest car looking at the numbers you wanna look at. The last time I looked at it, we were top two or top three.
Tyler Reddick said.
In the last few weeks unfortunately there has been a clear drop in performance and it shows how volatile teams can be in the Net-Gen era. If they cant find the right balance with the cars for the race weekend, things can go south easily for them and the racers go from fighting for wins to barley cutting into the top-10.
Maybe that’s changed a little bit over the last couple weeks. It doesn’t take much in this Next Gen era, if you will, to go from contending for race wins every week to struggling to finish 10th.
Tyler Reddick added.
The No:45 Toyota driver got a great point, that 23XI Racing hasn’t delivered elite level cars like they used to for him this season. The noise around the team owing to many controversies, the three-car expansion and especially the charter lawsuit hasn’t clearly helped.
