23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick was the driver under the most pressure coming into the Kansas Cup race. The reasons for the pressure weren’t just his point situation, massive gap to the cutoff, but there were personal issues. His four-month year old son rookie was under intensive care with potential heart issues.

Tyler Reddick’s wife Alexa DeLeon Reddick took it Instagram to share the situation and asked the community for their support. After multiple visits to the pediatrician, it was revealed that Rookie was showing signs of heart failure. It was major hit for the family that has been cherishing every moment of their recently expanded family.

After a run around for months with the pediatrician office, I knew what was going on was something bigger. Always trust your mom gut. Our sweet Rookie was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed.

Alexa DeLeon Reddick wrote on Instagram (Fox Sports.)

She asked everyone to pray to the God that their son will get healed soon and asserted that she believes in God as well as the medical professionals to make it possible. Rookie is under intensive care and constant supervision in the cardiovascular ICU.

Please please pray for this sweet guy that God heals his heart. With God, Rookie, and his amazing doctors here at Levine’s I believe He can. We are in the cardiovascular ICU while we get some answers and work on improving heart function.

Alexa DeLeon added.

It put Tyler Reddick in a tough situation, as though he wants to fight for wins, his heart is distracted with the thoughts on his son. Talking about it, the two times Xfinity Series champion admitted that as a father he is in a tough spot and if the situation with his gets serious at any time, he would be flying back home at the exact moment. The only reason he still raced in the event was his Son was doing well enough for him not stay with them and race at Kansas.

It’s difficult. It’s not what you want for your kids. As a father, my first son, [5-year-old] Beau has hit his head, bruised himself up, cut himself up. But what my son Rookie is going through is serious. It’s a tricky situation. More than anything, I’m just ready to get on a plane and go home… But thankfully, he’s doing well enough to where me and my wife were on the same page about me staying.

Tyler Reddick produced a good result under pressure in Kansas

23XI Racing had an eventful night at Kansas, that saw Tyler Reddick’s teammate Bubba Wallace missing out on a win after a contact with boss Denny Hamlin on the final lap. Reddick finished the race at P7, as the second best 23XI driver and now finds himself close to getting eliminated from the R-12 if he doesn’t produce a magical run next week at Roval.

It was a tough day. I really thought our beast Toyota Camry was really fast. We just had struggles on pit road. That’s part of racing. It’s tough. Yeah, obviously there’s only one thing we can do at Charlotte, and that’s what we’ll be focused on.

Tyler Reddick said after the race.

Going into Roval next Sunday, Tyler Reddick will be hoping that the only pressure that will be on his shoulder will be winning the race to make it into R-8 and not the pressure about his son being in the hospital. The whole racing community is praying for Rookie, hoping for a quick recovery.
