Tyler Reddick reveals Michael Jordan once called him out for being “terrible at speedway racing”

The 2024 season saw 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick proving to the whole grid why he is regarded as an assured future Cup champion. His impressive consistency and some bad luck for Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson earned him the regular season championship, the first title for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin as team owners.
One of the main reasons for his success is the massive improvement he has made in the Superspeedways. He even made it to the playoff by winning the Talladega regular season race. Recently Tyler Reddick recalled a conversation he had with team owner Michael Jordan where he was called out for being bad at Superspeedways.
I got the chance to meet with him before my first year started, spend some time with him. We were down in Daytona before the 500 a year and a half ago. Me, him and Bubba [Wallace] were talking something about speedway racing.Tyler Reddick said via Happy Hour podcast.
He revealed that during the conversation that featured him and Bubba Wallace with the boss, he was called a terrible Speedway racer. At the time the conversation happened, it was true that Reddick wasn’t good enough at Superspeedways.
I can’t even remember what I said, but he turned to me and said, ‘Man you don’t have any room to talk. You’re terrible at speedway racing.’Tyler Reddick added.

The No:45 Toyota driver took the banter the right way, though he wasn’t expecting the shot coming at him. He was determined to prove his boss wrong and it being an extra motivation for him and it proved to be great for him. Reddick admitted that MJ calling you out for deficiencies is the easy motivation to get better.
Michael loves cutting it up if you will. For me, I wasn’t expecting that and it was a nice thing. I took it the right way and I’m like alright, well I have some work to do. I have some extra motivation, I was already motivated to get better at speedway racing. When MJ calls you out about not being very good at it, it’s easy to find motivation to get better.Tyler Reddick said.
The 2024 season has been great for Tyler Reddick, but the battle isn’t over for this season. He has nine more races left in the season to prove his worth yet again, and maybe win the championship upsetting the big teams.
