The NASCAR Playoffs are never easy. Drivers find themselves inches away from disaster, particularly at tracks like the Bristol Motor Speedway. HMS star Chase Elliot fell victim to such a situation after a wild wreck took him out of the race.
Chase Elliot is one of the 16 drivers in the Playoffs. The Chevrolet star needed a strong result to guarantee his spot into the Round of 12. Unfortunately, during the race, Elliot got involved in a big wreck, triggered by John Hunter Nemechek.
In a clip during the broadcast, Nemechek bumped into Chase Elliot’s car. However, the No. 42 driver claims that it was Denny Hamlin who actually triggered the entire ordeal. Nevertheless, Elliot emerged as the biggest loser from the incident, as his No. 9 Chevrolet went sideways and hit the barrier after the incident.

He was forced to bring his car back into the pits. A disappointing weekend for the Hendrick star. The Bristol race took some fascinating turns by the ending stages. Fans expected Alex Bowman to take the win this time around. However, it’s Christopher Bell who managed to emerge victorious.
Chase Elliot in a ‘pickle’ after Bristol wreck
The result was disappointing for Chase Elliot. The HMS star was yet to secure a spot in the Round of 12, and a retirement only made matters worse. Nevertheless, the Chevrolet driver avoided playing the blame game following the race, and admitted that there was nothing he could do.

The No. 9 driver pointed out that such races often become a contest of preserving tires by the end. Chase Elliot recalled that he got hit from behind when he was trying to get on the bottom line of the track. Though, he did not blame Nemechek directly for causing the wreck. Nevertheless, the situation didn’t make him happy as the Chevy star confessed that he was in a bit of a pickle.
It was a game of just how quick can you get to the bottom after a few laps to preserve your tires. I thought I was doing the smart thing. The Penske guys got position on me, so I was just trying to get back down in line. I got a huge shot from behind, and I don’t know if he [Hunter Nemechek] had maybe gotten hit or I just stacked the lane up that much or what. Nonetheless, it happened, and it’s done. Looks like we’re in a bit of a pickle now.
Chase Elliot told NBC Sports.
Certainly, the Playoffs are challenging. A single wreck in the case of Chase Elliot can end the season-long effort to win the world title. While this adds to the excitement for fans as anything can happen in the business end of the tournament, it is also equally frustrating to drivers who might have a bad day or two. Chase Elliot is certainly feeling it after Bristol.
