Connor Zilisch‘s weekend at Watkins Glen turned into a disaster at Victory Lane. The Trackhouse Racing driver had a great run in the Xfinity Series on Saturday and took the race win for JR Motorsports. However, a peculiar accident saw him fall on the ground and sustain a serious injury.

The 19-year-old dominated the Xfinity race with a stellar victory. In Victory Lane, Connor Zilisch was stepping out of the No. 88 car to celebrate his triumph. However, Zilisch’s foot seemed to have got stuck in the window as he tried to get out. This hampered his balance, with the NASCAR star ultimately falling on the ground.

Connor Zilisch kept lying on the ground for some time, as NASCAR officials quickly got an ambulance. He was taken to the infield care center for treatment straightaway. On X, the 19-year-old thanked his fans for sending him prayers.

Zilisch revealed that a CT scan cleared any doubts of a head injury. However, the Trackhouse Racing star admitted that he had broken his collarbone. This will see him miss at least the remainder of the weekend at Watkins Glen.

Thank you everybody for reaching out today. I’m out of the hospital and getting better already. Thankfully, CT scans for my head are clear, I just have a broken collarbone. Thankful for all the medics for quick attention and grateful it wasn’t any worse.

Trackhouse Racing withdraw Connor Zilisch’s car from Cup race

Connor Zilisch’s injury is a major blow, not only to the 19-year-old’s campaign but even for Trackhouse Racing. Zilisch is a Trackhouse Racing driver who races on loan for JR Motorsports in the Cup Series. Following the injury, Trackhouse Racing decided to withdraw its entry for Zilisch’s car out of respect for their star driver.

On X, the team issued a brief statement. Trackhouse Racing informed fans that they elected to withdraw the No. 87 car from the Cup Series on Sunday. The team wished for a speedy recovery for Connor Zilisch. Presently, no timeline has been given over the 19-year-old’s potential return to the cockpit.

Trackhouse Racing has elected to withdraw the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet from tomorrow’s NASCAR Cup Series’ race at Watkins Glen International. We wish Connor a speedy recovery.

Connor Zilisch is having an incredible run in Xfinity Series this year. In the past eight races of NASCAR’s second tier, the 19-year-old has bagged five victories. However, the injury could indeed take a toll on his performance if he does not have a good recovery. Fans will hope that Zilisch takes his time to get back to his full health before returning to the field.
