Stock car racing always packs exciting action for fans. While most viewers remain focused on NASCAR, even grassroot-level championships can have some incredible drama unfold. This was the case on Saturday when a Street Stock race at Bowman Gray Stadium forced police officials to intervene.
The Street Stock race at Bowman Gray Stadium witnessed some incredible on-track battles. With just one lap to go, Kyler Staley was battling Brad Lewis for the lead. As the two drivers made their way to the finish line, Kyler Staley’s father Zach, slowed down on purpose to impede Lewis, in a bid to help his son win the race. Though, Kyler Staley would’ve been able to win the race without this illegal assistance, considering he was ahead of Brad Lewis.
Following the race, Street Stock officials gave the chequered flag to Brad Lewis in the No. 16 car, instead of Staley, declaring Lewis as the rightful winner. Staley got out of the car straightaway to potentially confront Lewis, but before he could reach the race winner, the No. 16 went straight ahead in the Bowman Gray Stadium. A clip on X showcased the entire ordeal.
Zach Staley ran towards Emily Lewis‘ No. 4 car in what seemed to be a way of getting revenge. As it turns out, Emily, who’s the wife of Brad Lewis, spun out Zach Staley’s No. 8 car after the latter tried to interfere with the race result.
Ultimately, police officials intervened and got a hold of the No. 8 driver. The police restricted Zach from doing anymore damage to Lewis’ car. This created an incredibly chaotic scene at Bowman Gray Stadium, something which no fan could’ve really expected to see.

Zach Staley flips off Lewis couple over Bowman Gray Stadium drama
The police might’ve forced Zach Staley to get away from Emily Lewis’ car, but his anger had not subsided. While his son, Kyler Staley was being pinned to the ground by officials, to ensure that the No. 7 driver does not do any intentional harm to Brad Lewis or others on the track, Zach Staley made his anger known.

After walking away from the finish line of the Bowman Gray Stadium, the senior Staley took off his helmet and flipped off towards Emily Lewis’ car. All this while, Kyler Staley was forced to the ground. While the Staley family was erupting in anger, Brad Lewis did not hold himself back, and got out to celebrate his race victory. This only made Kyler Staley more angry, who followed his father in flipping off Lewis.
The drama at the Street Stock race in Bowman Gray Stadium could not have been predicted by anyone. It was Zach Staley who sparked the incident after what seemed to be an intentional way to make his son win the race. The race officials made the right call by handing the victory to Brad Lewis, even if it angered the father-son duo. However, as is the case in grassroot racing, the Staleys did not show acceptable behavior after the incident.
