NASCAR Playoffs can be brutal. Drivers can lose it all by a single bad outing in the last 10 races. Ryan Blaney is no stranger to handling the pressure when the stakes are so high. Though sometimes it’s always appreciated to have some wholesome support from a family member. This is exactly what happened to Blaney during the Bristol night race.

The Team Penske driver did not have the worst outing at Bristol. Ryan Blaney managed to bring home a P4 result for his team. This helped move Blaney up to 19 points above the cut-off line for the Round of 12. However during the race, Ryan Blaney was met with a wholesome surprise. He could hear his nephew Brodie on the team radio, urging him to win the race.

While such messages are appreciated by drivers, perhaps this was not the best timing. Blaney shouted on the radio, asking his mother to get the radio scanner away from the kid. Nevertheless, he had a good laugh and admitted that the little boy was quite clever.

Brodie: Ryan… Win this race!
Ryan Blaney: Mom get Brodie off the scanner!
Ryan Blaney: He found Gianna’s scanner in the bus found out I had to turn it off. Pretty smart.

Ryan Blaney responds to Goodyear tire fiasco at Bristol

Tires are a big part of racing, particularly in NASCAR. A good set of tires can make or break the entire race. This time at Bristol Motor Speedway, Goodyear brought in a new softer right-side tire. This was meant to pose a challenge to teams and drivers when it came to tire management. While the decision worked, not everyone was happy. However, Ryan Blaney decided to show some sympathy towards the tire supplier.

The Ford driver asserted that Goodyear might need to find a better compromise for the track in the future. However, Ryan Blaney joked that he certainly doesn’t want to be in place of the guys working at Goodyear over this. Blaney asserted that the NASCAR tire supplier has managed to be successful on most tracks. Thus, Bristol is more of an outlier than could be fixed later on.

There’s an in-between. Got to keep working on it. That’s really all you can do. It’s tough. My gosh, I don’t envy their job of trying to figure that out. Just try to do the best job they can. They’ve done a good job so far of getting softer and softer at other places, and it’s worked. Here’s just a little bit of a different animal that they got to keep working with. So, hopefully we get a little bit of a kind of an in-between.

Ryan Blaney told Frontstretch.

Ryan Blaney understands that criticizing a tire supplier won’t change things overnight. Despite the tire controversy, the Bristol race was full of action with 14 cautions and a whopping 36 lead changes. At the end of the day, this is what fans watch NASCAR for, a good action-packed races with a whole host of unknowns. Though Blaney would be hoping to make it to Victory Lane soon.
