Tony Stewart, despite being 54, has not let go of the motorsport bug as he continues to make appearances in various categories. Stewart might be one of the most versatile drivers in the world, as his move to NHRA after NASCAR retirement speaks volumes about his love for the game. Now, in a shocking turn of events, the 54-year-old suffered from a massive wreck at Maple Grove Raceway, but miraculously walked out unscathed from the wreck.

Tony Stewart is rightly regarded as one of the most versatile and accomplished figures within the NASCAR community, possibly even in the entire motorsport realm. Stewart, right after retiring from the pinnacle of stock racing, joined the NHRA and launched his own team, the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR), within the drag racing sport.

However, in a recent race at the Maple Grove Raceway, the 54-year-old was subjected to a massive and violent wreck with Doug Kalitta. During Round 2 of eliminations in the Top Fuel category at the Reading Nationals, Tony Stewart faced off against Doug Kalitta.

The race started off as usual, with Kalitta taking the lead and passing the victory speed within 3.787 seconds. Meanwhile, Stewart could only reach 326 mph within 3.809 seconds. As such, Kalitta won the race, but nearing the finish line, disaster struck, and both drivers crashed violently.

Tony Stewart’s car flipped and hit the barriers at speeds well over 300mph, and it looked extremely dangerous. Doug Kalitta’s front-left tire came off as he turned into Stewart and caused him to lose control as well. However, shockingly, the 54-year-old walked out of the car unscathed and was soon released by the infield center after being medically cleared.

Speaking on the accident, the 54-year-old recalled that he did not remember any of the events during the accident. He only remembered being woken up at the care center, as he was just as confused as everyone else about what actually happened.

I don’t have a damn clue, honestly. I don’t remember any of it, The first thing I remember, they’re waking me up here. Not sure what happened. It appears to be pretty massive. … I’m as curious as everybody else is to what happened. I just know that we’re not where we’re supposed to be at the end of a run here. So, just confused.

Tony Stewart said, as reported by @KellyCrandall/X.

Speaking on the accident, Tony Stewart continued that he had a hell of a headache. Further, his left hand suffered from some pain. However, the 54-year-old noted that he had been through sprint car crashes much worse than this one. As such, Stewart promised that he was fine after the crash and was not concerned about his health.

I got one hell of a headache and banged my left hand up. But I’ve been through sprint car crashes way worse than this, I’m pretty sure. We’re good. We’re good, we’re fine. I promise, we’re fine.

Tony Stewart added.

Despite being unscathed from the crash and being all right, Tony Stewart must still take care of himself. After all, no one wants to go through such crashes after being 54 years old. Now, time will tell about how Stewart changes his mindset after surviving such a dangerous wreck in NHRA.
