Kyle Larson is a full-time auto racing driver in the NASCAR Cup Series. He drives the No.5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. Larson also competes part-time in the Xfinity Series, driving the No.17 Chevrolet Camaro for HMS. He is one of the most successful drivers ever and has shown his brilliance on several occasions. Larson won the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series championship. 

Kyle Larson began racing karts when he was seven years old. When he was 14, he raced sprint cars and won at the Placerville Speedway in the Civil War Series. He became the youngest winner in California history to do so. Larson won in every United States Auto Club car at the 3 Crown Nationals that same year.

Kyle Larson’s only start in the K&N Pro Series West resulted in a victory. In the ARCA Menards Series, he had one win in three starts. His Xfinity Series run is also impressive. From 2016 to 2019, he made the playoffs for four straight seasons in the Cup Series. In 2020, Larson got into trouble for uttering a racial epithet. It was during a live show, and he got suspended by Chip Ganassi and NASCAR. However, he apologized, and NASCAR reinstated him. Larson then got a multi-year contract with a prominent team, HMS. 

Kyle Larson won at Las Vegas in his fourth start with HMS. His second win came at the Coca-Cola 600, where he led 327 laps out of 400. In the 2021 Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, Larson claimed his tenth season victory and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. It was the first time since Jimmie Johnson in 2007 to have ten wins and a championship. It was a good season for Larson. 

Kyle Larson scored his 18th win at Watkins Glen in 2022. It was also his second consecutive win. He finished the season seventh in the points standings. The same year, it was announced that he would stay with HMS until 2026. In the 2023 season, Kyle Larson finished 18th at the season opener, Daytona 500. The HMS driver was then served a penalty for the unapproved hood louver. Larson scored his first win of the 2023 season, and his 20th Cup Series win at Richmond Raceway. His 21st win came at Martinsville. It has been going well for Kyle Larson so far. He is now 4th in the Cup Series standings.

Many NASCAR drivers have different nicknames. It often goes well with their personalities. Some of the famous nicknames are “The King”, “The Intimidator”, “Superman,” and “The Candyman”. Just like these, Kyle Larson also has a nickname. He goes by “Yung Money”. He got this name because of his ability to adapt to any racing series. Larson is one of the drivers who can race in any car and win. 

When Kyle Larson was a teenager, he raced open-wheel cars, which included the USAC, Silver Crown, and Sprint cars. In his early career at USAC, the series official gave Larson the nickname. He was called “Yung Money” because of his talent. The No.5 HMS driver has 21 wins and 150 top tens in the NASCAR Cup Series. Larson has 13 wins and 78 top tens in the Xfinity Series. “Yung Money” has also won in the Camping World Truck Series, ARCA Menards Series, and ARCA Menards East and West Series. 

Kyle Larson has a long list of achievements. He won the 2011 USAC Silver Crown Rookie of the Year. In 2012 he won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Rookie of the Year. Larson also won the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, and in 2014 he was named the Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year. In 2022, Larson won the ESPY Awards for best driver. His latest accomplishment was being named one of NASCAR’s 75 Great Drivers.
