HMS’ William Byron has gone through his worst and his best in the 2024 season. He started the season by securing three impressive race wins in the first eight races of the season, before hitting a two-race streak of poor finish. Though he has come back from the struggles, hasn’t been able to produce the same level of consistency as he used to it.
He is going into the Olympics break with the hopes of coming back. In the last ten races, William Byron finished outside the top-15 five times, with three of those finishes being outside the top-25. He also has three top-5 runs in the same period, showing how much he is struggling to be productive when he is having a car that doesn’t suit him.
So going into the much-needed season break because the Olympics, Byron is using it to recharge and reset his mentality. He is looking forward to the trip he has planned with his family and is also looking to continue working on the physical along with the mental aspect of racing to get better before the next race at Richmond.
I have a trip planned with my family, so that’ll be fun. I’m looking forward to that. But other than that, just try to really reset. But also it’s a chance to work and get better for the homestretch there. Definitely going to take that time to reset mentally and recharge, but still kind of work on the physical side and also the mental side to make sure that we’re ready.William Byron said at Indy.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. reveals how William Byron made him obsessed with LEGO
One of the biggest hobbies of the HMS driver is building LEGO sets during his break time. NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. started doing the same after seeing the youngster’s dedication and now is obsessed with it as well. Recently via his podcast, he hilariously called Byron an a**hole for making him spend money on this obsession.
He’s [Byron] costing me on these LEGO sets. We got the Millennium Falcon coming which is kind of like the second largest set next to the Titanic. The Batman Animated Series set which is kind of like the shadow box of the batman cave. It’s really neat. The Ghostbusters car! The Back to the Future car! And then this retro 50s style radio. So… Byron, you’re an a**hole.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
While the obsession with LEGO might not yield anything more than satisfaction for junior, for Byron the revelation was a big deal. He shared his passion with the NASCAR fandom in the Full Speed Netflix Series and was able attract a new set of fans who resonated with him, alongside a wide PR reach which was big deal.
