The 2025 NASCAR Cup season started with a wild and chaotic Daytona 500 that featured everything. Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron, survived the chaos to win the race, taking advantage of a wreck on the last lap. He became the first racer since Denny Hamlin to win back-to-back races at the Florida track.

It was not just the racing that made the event special. The sitting US president Donald Trump made a special visit was eventful. He gave a message, regarding unity and influence of NASCAR before the race started. William Byron was impressed with how everything played out regarding the presidential visit and shared his feelings during the Atlanta race week.

It was pretty neat. I think anytime you can have a sitting president come and see your sporting event, it is very special. And for him to take the time to do that was really cool.

William Byron said via Fox Sports.

Further talking about the point, Byron pointed out that everything Trump did including going around the track in his car, “The Beast” alongside everything he did was pretty cool. He reiterated how Trump brought a lot of excitement and energy

During the same conversation, William Byron shared his feelings about the Daytona 500 victory. He admitted that it took days for the excitement over the win to actually set in and this gives him more motivation to win more races in the coming races this season.

I feel like it took a few days to really set in, but ever since, I guess last Friday or so, I’ve been able to have a bit more time to think about it. It’s definitely been special, and I want to try to win more races this year. But it was definitely a great start and something that means a lot to our team.

William Byron said.

The comments from the No:24 HMS driver proves he is more than excited about the win and the momentum it gave him. It would be interesting to see how the star Chevy driver will perform in the coming races, with the Bill France Cup being his primary goal.
