William Byron spills the beans on “key pillars” of his relationship with crew chief Rudy Fugle

The 2024 NASCAR season marked yet another successful year together for William Byron and his Hendrick Motorsports No:24 Chevy team crew chief, Rudy Fugle. They have been working together for over the last four years at HMS and were also successful when they were together in the Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Over the last four season together, they won a combined 12 Cup series races, with the 2024 Daytona 500 win being the highlight. They also improved the championship standing with back-to-back P3 finishes in the last two years. According to William Byron the confidence, knowledge and work ethic has been the key pillars of their relationship.

Just trust, confidence, knowledge, work ethic — there’s a lot of different things that are important, key pillars to a relationship like that. So yeah, I feel like he’s done a great job over the years.

The No:24 Chevy driver is thankful to have someone like Rudy Fugle as his crew chief and the leader of his team. He admitted that the 40-year-old has been doing a tremendous leading the team to huge accomplishment, including the No;24 cars 100th race win last year.

I mean, he’s getting a lot of experience at this. So yeah, I’m just thankful to have him as a crew chief. It’s a tremendous commitment, and he does it really well.

William Byron added.

William Byron feels he is in a good place going into 2025

In the same conversation, he also talked about his true feelings regarding how prepared they are going into the 2025 season. He pointed out that they had a solid post-season meeting, and with a lot of goals to achieve next-season, are determined to achieve them.

So yeah, we’re in a good place. All of our postseason meetings and talks about Phoenix are in a great spot, and we’re ready to go next year. So, we have a lot of goals to achieve next year and I feel like he’s in a good place. But yeah, emotions are raw right after the race and sometimes in the car, it’s a little bit different picture than what they see.

William Byron added.

The comments from William Byron shows they are confident about the upcoming season and redeeming himself. It would be interesting to see if he would be able to make the difference and achieve the goals.
